Australian sales charts, week ending 10/06/07

PALGN News | Mario strikes.
It's time for a new number one. Mario Strikers Charged Football has taken the charts by storm to grab the top spot. You can read our review of Mario's latest escapade here. Buzz: The Mega Quiz managed to hold firm at two, while at number three we have Petz Hotel on the Nintendo DS. Obviously. It's deja vu at four thanks to Buzz: The Mega Quiz - but this time it's the bundle version. At five is something we never thought we'd read in the charts - Horsez.

Last week's number one, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, took a bit hit, dropping five spots to six. The noisy Crash Boom Bang has climbed two places from last week to end at seven. No surprises that number eight is Shrek the Third (on the DS, no less), given the success of past Shrek games. At nine is Catz 2006, making it the third DS game in the top ten that thinks it is incredibly cool to replace 's' with 'z'. Newsflash - it isn't. Stop it now. Please. Closing out the charts is Buzz - again - with the Junior Robojam.

The charts are updated weekly and are provided by the beautiful and lovely people at GfK.

Nintendo does well again - although I suspect it has more to do with an "oh it has mario in it" and "YAY something new for the wii that isnt a party game" then any genuine preference for strikers that sees its rise to the top over other titles - that and a console bundle deal doesn't hurt.

Does that mean that it's actually meant to be Buss- The Musical Quiz?

On the one hand, it's somewhat disappointing that Resistance is still the top-selling PS3 game, but on the PC side of things... World of Warcraft? Really? Still?? .....Really? .........What? Really?

Well deserved for Strikers. Everything else is garbage though.

Also, let me fix something for you:

It looks like little girls are buying all of the games now. icon_sad.gif
I guess there will be a few new Sims games next week to fill up the charts, or maybe Tadpolez and Hamzterz will finally be released on DS.

Big companies support education of children, yet they cant even spell correctly on their game boxes. Define Irony.

I think that the whole "education" part of a lot of these games is nothing more than a parent-targeted marketing exercise. They need good "edutainment" games like "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiago?"
That games was awesome!

Why would it, no serious gamer would run Vista as an operating system for starters, second of all, its a 2 year old game, an over-rated single player experience and there are much better supported multiplayer games on the PC.

Microsoft made the mistake of purposely delaying the title for Vista, requiring a Xbox Live subscription and making it Vista only...it aint going to sell well lol.

I wonder how many people have returned it cos it didn't work on XP.
