Australian Gaming Bargains - 14/06/07

PALGN Feature | 20%, 30%, 40% and 45% off.
Although JB Hi-Fi and EB Games' sales are still in due effect, that hasn’t stopped Target, Big W, David Jones or Toys 'R' Us from attempting to get some money out of your pockets. This week, they’re offering some pretty sweet Wii and Xbox 360 bargains, including 20%, 30%, 40% and 45% off, as well as the sensational price of $348 for a brand new Wii console. Several retailers are also following JB Hi-Fi’s PlayStation 3 bundle, where they’re virtually giving you a free game. Additionally, Big W has a separate sale from the list below which can be viewed in last week’s Australian Gaming Bargains article by clicking here.

Toys 'R' Us has also given a price of $56.99 for Pokémon Diamond/Pearl. The price was revealed in the details of their current DS Lite bundle, and will presumably remain – at least for the duration of the sale. Remember though, the game will not be available until June 21st, so you’ll have to wait just one more week. Pre-orders are accepted at most retailers.

Was Metal Slug released before the 30th? Also, is it one of those so called 'budget' Wii titles?
I finish uni in about a week and have been planning to get an xbox 360 for some time.
BUT none of the current deals really blow my skirt up.
I'm not interested in Forza and really want Gears of war. Theres was a gears bumdle a few weeks back but I had no time to buy it.
Can anyone suggest what to do?
When are the 65nm chips meant to arrive?
Any price drops coming soon?
Cheers

DIU, i don't know about budget Wii title, but Metal Slug Anthology is going for $50 at my local EB icon_biggrin.gif

wasn't sure it was part of the overall sale...

For anyone who wants to see a full list of all the reduced Wii games in the Big W sale, and for how much each, head to the Gaming Bargains thread, I've posted the full list.

The Big W sale isn't as good as last years.

Domayne has 360's for $527, if that's cheap enough?

Kinda tempted myself but I'm still worried about the failure rate of those things and not having HDTV is still a deterrent.

liitlemo
Thanks, that would be good enough but the only domayne in Vic doesn't sell electrical icon_sad.gif

I'm gonna wait and look around.
I might try haggling someone at JB icon_wink.gif

That bundle is discontinued and been replaced with the Xbox 360 Forza 2 bundle.

You could always get the Forza 2 bundle, then trade Forza 2 in for Gears of War (which is going cheap these days, $50 at EB I think? Possibly cheaper at JB/other).

Big W have a 360 with an extra controller for $588.

$50, Dare? Wow.
Thanks DIU
I think I'll buy that in the next few days.
Unless anyone suggests otherwise, are the 65nm chips going to get here anytime soon?

Also I've got to just say, in terms of buying anything games related this is a really useful site. icon_smile.gif

Well I went to the Big W sale today and found absolutely nothing of interest. It was a complete waste of time in my eyes. I then went to EB and they had no copies of either Crackdown or Table Tennis. I was looking forward to getting those games so badly and I came home empty handed. How dare they!
Get Crackdown off ebay. There's stacks of copies now that the Halo 3 beta is over.

yeah DIU $50 for Metal Slug Anthology, of course it says a price tag of $99.99 (or whateva), but has a nice 1/2 PRICE sticker on all the display boxes, so i'm guessing it wasn't just one person who removed a 1/2 PRICE sticker from something and put it there instead

I've done that a few times, haven't tried to buy the game once i put the 'sticker' on it though, damn conscious!

Hmmm I know alot of people who have tried it and nobody has questioned them, I guess it's what EB games you go to.

What are some of the XBox games at Big W?

My one had Forza, Halo 2 and the half decent games ended there. There aren't many decent games, they all seem to be the really bad ones that never sold.

I got one about 2 weeks ago for $538 getting EB to price match another store. If I hadn't of gotten that I'd definitely pick up the $588 one + wireless controller.

Oh and EB currently have Gears, and a few other great games, at 50% off. So now would be a great time to get the games.

Anyone know where I could get some cheap Xbox Live starter packs?

JB have them for $69

Thanks I'll check it out.
