Smash Bros. Brawl controller support listed

PALGN News | Everything but the kitchen sink.
The official Super Smash Brothers blog has spilled the beans on which Wii control methods will be available for the game. Since it's unveiling, speculation has been that the game would utilize the classic controller and/or GameCube controller, but according to director Masahiro Sakurai, the Wii is such a "versatile piece of hardware" with so many different controller configurations that he has "no choice but implement them all!"

The four different control methods are:

A) Wii Remote (turned on its side)
B) Wii Remote + Nunchuk
C) Classic Controller
D) GameCube Controller

It's uncertain as to what advantages each control type will have over the others, and while Masahiro is staying mum on the subject, he says that each will give gamers a "fresh experience."

Cool, i was wondering if i would have to buy a Classic Controler for this.I was thinking it would annoy some people who prefer the Wiimote.
Its great to know that there not going to exlude anyone.

awesomeness, i loved the gamecube controller for melee, and i just didnt get how the wiimote would work for this game, but no matter what ill not be dissapointed

I personally wouldnt buy a Classic controller cause it has no rumble, I still have my gamecube controllers, but I personally wanted some motion sensing.

well i'm pleased that all controllers are compatible but will cordless controllers vs. cord controllers become a problem with multiplayer sessions? at least with the wii controllers you have an exscuse to kick the opponent

I'm loving the idea of using Classic Controller, the thing is really comfortable, and I don't mind not having rumble too much in Smash Bros.

Would be interesting if they managed to work it so one person could play with the Wiimote on its side, and another person using the Classic controller that's plugged into it... icon_wink.gif

This is great news imo, I didn't want them to limit the control method because everyone has their own tastes and I didn't want to have to buy 1 classic controller, let alone 4. There was talk of extra features on the motion controls but not sure now...

Excellent! I applaud Nintendo for this decision. Giving people choices in control is one of the foundations of an excellent game. The same goes towards Midway for Mortal Kombat Armageddon on the Wii.

Weird and interesting. Mind you Nintendo are not exactly known for being conventional.

This along with Corruption is the game where online multiplayer is a must icon_biggrin.gif that has been my only real concern with this game. I know the game is going to rock no matter what the controls are.

I just want multiplayer online Brawl!!!

wow this is great new i can have fun in all sorts of ways now:P with the game cube controller I'm going to feel like playing game cube tho... i wonder how just the wii mote is going to work and classic controller wont rumble so i think the best one will be the wii mote + nunchuk!! icon_biggrin.gif

might want to change that statement..... i know what u intended thogh icon_smile.gif

yes, the control system for the wiimote styles is intriguing. Though most will try them, im thinking a lot will settle with the GameCube controller. People are already accustomed to the play utilising this controller.
I for one am looking forward to new Smash. Ive become such a Nintendo kid after the introduction by my best friend a while back. So ive played a lot of Smash now and entered 2 tournaments in the past 6 months. Lastest was yesterday, its so much fun. Not just when playing with friends but on that bigger scale, all in for the fun and prize; its great. Brawl is going to be even better. SO PUMPED!

I have never played a Smash Brothers title in my life (believe it or not). Is it worth picking up Melee on the Gamecube or should I just wait for Brawl?

If you can find Melee cheap, sink your claws into it for sure. However, if you cant and they confirm a release in Australia for 2007, just wait it out.
