Australian Gaming Bargains - 24/05/07

PALGN News | Some excellent software and console specials.
Things have finally returned to normal after a quiet fortnight of average pricing. This week there are several fantastic software bargains across all consoles - as well as a few well-priced bundles. The Xbox 360 bundles in particular are inviting as they include the Premium pack rather than the standard console. Diddy Kong Racing DS is once again under $50, along with a few other first party titles at K-Mart. Those hoping for some PSP love won’t be disappointed either, the newly released Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters is $10-$15 less than the RRP at K-Mart and Target – a nice find if you’re eager to blow up robots and other beings.

Ds-Lite $189? That's more than what I paid for one at launch, hardly call that a bargain. If you want a bargain go to any EB they sell them brand new for $174.

Final Fantasy III: $74.95? A bargin? Ouch. I payed $58 For Mine.
They're not really bargains, Joseph is just kind enough to post the current catalogue specials that the major retailers offer.

That being said if you really want a DS Lite, go to Toys R Us and pay $199 for a DS Lite and either Diddy King Racing DS or Elite Beat Agents and you also get 5x $5 off DS purchase coupons as well.

Is that correct - EB sells DS Lite for $175??

I guess it depends on which EB you go to, the 3 EBs close to me have them for $189 by themselves or $249 with 2 games out of a choice of 6.

Too right. These are what major retailers in Australia have each week. While some of you don't consider these prices as "bargains," most of them are still under the RRP. What's better, saving $10-$20 or paying full price? I've even purposely left out advertisements for consoles when people weren't saving a single cent.

Also, there are a lot of people that only have access to, or perhaps only want to buy from, these retailers. Take into account people who have gift vouchers, there's nothing else to get in the shops, perhaps they want to compare each store and see where they can use the voucher as well as get a better deal.

EDIT: I would just like to point out that I am not targeting anyone in particular.

Here, here
I agree with Joseph on this one. I really look forward to seeing the bargins page here everyweek and Being a Rural dweller its a great outlet for information as we dont get advertising material like you do Ugh. So please give a little thanks for the service people other than yourself may need its not like there is a unified audience to please.
Thanks Palgn for the service its a big help everyweek, keep up the good work.

And yeh get off Joseph's back, he's just putting the stuff up, bargains are subjective.A bargain to someone in a certain area maybe a rip-ff to another in a diff area.

Joseph - that would take ages to type up all this stuff, so thanks alot, PALGN is the only site I know that actually tries to be helpful for other like minded gamers.

We all know that KMart and other retailers take 10-15% off at the most these days, so anyone looking to find some hardcore bargains need to wait until the end of financial year where they get rid of lots of stock or actually visit the individual Kmarts themselves and hopefully find something in the clearance section.

Now if you want a good bargain, head over to play-asia.com's website, they have a weekly bargain, which is usually a great offer. They've had Ridge Racers 2, Loco Roco for $20 Aussie bucks while they were still full price. This week its DOAXVB2, but only the Asian version which doesn't work on PAL 360s.

This is Ezygames or something, isn't it? I assume its not Target as there is already a Target section.

EDIT: What Spanky said

Far out people overreact on this forum, I wasn't having a go at Joseph, just the $189 price for the DS-Lite....calm down! It's ok....nobody's hurt. icon_rolleyes.gif

If someone posts a list of things they think are all bargains (or the shops think....WHATEVER)....then isn't it only fair someone else points out if that particular price is a bit too expensive? It's not like we're the ones ripping anyone off by telling people they are able to get it cheaper elsewhere.

So please post any prices on any of these items you find cheaper thaN these listed 'bargain' prices....unless the mods have a problem with that (and I don't see why they would). No one was having a go at Joseph....just at these prices which are supposed 'bargains'.
I don't think anyone was having a go at you either, ugh. In fact no one was having a go at anything. What the hell is going on?
Yeah people do overeact ugh, you just gave a fine example icon_lol.gif

My comment wasn't directed at you personally, just that every week when the bargains thread comes up some bright spark has to always say 'i've seen X cheaper' or 'that's a rip off' etc.
I probably did overreact a little myself. It's just every week people say: "That's not a bargain" and someone states "their just the catalogue specials from major retailers" and it gets really annoying.

Let's just leave it in the past, along with that evil scientist named Bruce. icon_razz.gif

Actually Destroy was having a go at me....not really a go....but pointing out I shouldn't put Joseph down for doing this service and yea I totally appreciate Joseph doing this but I wasn't having a go at him at all.
