The console was originally announced in January, thought by many to be a joke - what's the point of launching a new product into an overcrowded market? The project was quickly thought to have been vapourware, mainly due to the fact that very few details were few and far between, but Infinium Labs continued to insist that the machine existed.
The console's official unveiling took place just a few hours ago, on the official website.
The Phantom essentially appears to be a PC with gaming on demand delivered via a broadband connection. Purchasers of the system decide what sort of configuration they want with their machine - the base models are expected to ship with up to a 3ghz processor, 256mb DDR RAM, 100gb hard drive, 7.1 Dolby Digital surround sound, but customers can opt to include other things, such as a hard drive expansion, WIFI cards and cordless controllers when they purchase their machine.
Purchasing the Phantom will only appear to happen over their website for the time being, with no retailers signing contracts to carry the console. You'll be able to preorder the console from October, with the console shipping "around March".
