62 new Devil May Cry 4 screens

PALGN News | Count 'em.
A hefty bundle of fresh high-definition Devil May Cry 4 screenshots has been distributed to the press by Capcom. Inevitably, things are looking mightily impressive for the next-gen debut of lovable old demon-exterminating mercenary Dante, with the game sporting a diverse range of environments, dozens of enemies on screen at once, and pretty spiffy-looking effects.

This new batch of screens is taken from the PlayStation 3 version incidentally, though as we reported last month, the title will also be appearing on the Xbox 360, with a later PC release to follow. Check them all out in the Media Panel.

Awesome I was actually thinking about this game yesterday and how it was coming along but couldn't be bothered looking any thing up about it....and now here are 62 new screens.

It's still looking good but there seem to be quite a few jaggies in the screens which I didn't notice in the videos i'd seen of it.

Eh, I'll wait to see some video footage closer to release to judge - but there is some really horrible looking low-res texture work in there. Which is really jarring when compared to some of the other really nice looking higer-res textures.

Yea I just noticed that aswell....those Marionettes are have real low texture detail.

I would reccommend people to watch the video footage of the sequence with the flame creature....that was truly amazing the first time I saw that. Umm Frozen do you have a link?

ugh, download it direct from here (right-click and "Save Target As"). It's in .mov format though, so make sure you have a compatible player. icon_smile.gif File is 9.22MB.

is it low rez due to comming from ps3 or is that due to not being completed stages?

You're right Ugh, that video makes things look pretty good. I'd love to see an HD video of the game running, but I reckon its safe to say that those will start coming out when the game is closer to release.

Even through devil may cry has a massive following and is quickly regaining somewhat of a cult-like status, i am yet to be convinced. I think the next-gen of "slashers" will be awesome, but god of war and heavenly sword are the fast-paced combat games i am looking forward to. Be that as it may, i wouldn't hesitate to pick this up if it turned out to be totally awesome.

Thanks for that link Chris, that video is much better quality and that snow part at the start i'd never seen.

I too prefer God of War....but Devil May Cry basically invented the genre and it's technically better (better combat engine etc) so I still have lots of respect for it. They did wane a bit with the release of Part 2, but 3 quickly got things back on track. The one thing i've always disliked is the mission structure.....it just seems like everything is broken up into little tasks so you can get ratings/scores etc. I would prefer if the games were more cinematic and story driven like God of War....with awesome FMV cutscenes and some intelligent dialogue....it was always "Virgil you suck!", "No Dante you suck! Have at you!" Just real cliched type stuff that's all. Also I liked the cocky attitude in Part 1 but it got real old real quick. It might sound like i'm hating on Devil May Cry (far from it...I could fill this whole thread with praise for the game), it's just a couple of staple features in the series i'd like to see changed.

ah, DMC dialogue.

how much do i hate thee?
so damn much.

love the gameplay, hate the dialogue/attitude.

i didn't really think much of the snow part of that video, but once the town/village/cathedral/temple thing came it, it looked damn good.
