Anyone else wondering why they bought a Wii based on that list? - Doesn't seem to be anything big from first or third parties (Wario might be ok but it's not something to sink your teeth into for days at a time)

No. Zelda, Super Monkey Ball and VC games.

The Wii already has more must have titles than the 360 imho.

Hell no sir. But I guess it depends on what games you're into.

Zelda and Red Steel are the only Wii titles that have me wanting the console at the moment. Last time I went to the shop there was only like 6 titles available. And I doubt theres going to be too much more quality coming in the near future. Oh except for Smash Bros. Brawl.

The 360 library is starting to expand very quickly. I think it will outlead the PS3 even by its launch next year. So many good games to consider picking me up. Shame to hear about Lost Planet getting pushed back to next year though. Another whole two weeks.

The good: Elebits! Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2!

The bad: No Excite truck or Warioware SM!

the latter has been announced for Europe I think.

Driver 4 on Wii?

PS3 games late Feb. Maybe early March launch.

Woah, hang on... GT Pro Series 2?! Didn't the first only just come out?
That just screams "Crap game, don't buy" to me.

I agree with Theory on this

Elebits and Warioware are two must have titles, Excite Truck and Super Mario Galaxy are penciled in for March

Trauma Center is apparently slated for July

I think that beats the 360's must have exclusives Oblivion and Gears of War (Oblivion plays better on PC anyway) when the Wii already has Zelda, Red Steel and Downhill Jam

neither Theory nor slapshakle were talking about games to come.

and elebits and warioware are going to quench your gaming needs???

Red Steel and Downhill Jam are must have titles? News to me... and the majority of the gaming community for that matter.

And Super Mario Galaxy in March? I wouldn't bet on it.

You're on crack if you think the Wii has more "must-have" titles. Have a look at the Gamerankings scores for both consoles. All of the top 10 for 360 are above 85%, whereas the Wii manages a whole 1 game that's above 85%, and that game is also available on the Gamecube.

Downhill Jam? You have to be kidding me - isnt that a Tony Hawks racing game or something? LOL The 360 has the pleasure of having the wonderfull Project 8. And as for Red Steel it looks like a fun game but I dont think its anywhere near as good as Gears of War.

360 by far has the better range of games and im afraid its probably going to stay like that for a long time. Companies are just going to bring out crappy titles that utilise the new control scheme. And just because they use the new control scheme there going to get better reviews that the highly polished 360 titles? I doubt it.

Console war? The Wii shouldnt even be listed as a new console. Its just a gamecube re styled. Ill be surprised if companies release anything better than Zelda for the console in its whole life span. While the 360s potential hasnt even been touched yet.
^ The Wii's potential hasn't been touched yet either. The Wii has arguably more potential than any console in recent history, but at the same time, you have to remember new gameplay doesn't come from a controller, it comes from the developers and the software they write.

Borrowed from comments in a digg article a few days ago:

"Remember people - The controller is just what you use to play the game. The innovation is going to come from game developers. The fact that you can now move your arm back and forth, rather than pushing a little stick changes nothing of the game.

The Wiimote is nice. Don't think it's for everyone, or that it will magicaly create fantastic innovative games that defy everything ever and change our outlook on everything. It won't."

Argh, how did this turn into a console debate again? Oh that's right, ignorant Nintendo fanboys (well just renegadesx again) spouting unprovoked crap against the 360.

Red Steel's ok (I'd give it 6.5 - 7), but Downhill Jam SUCKS!

Look, the 360 does have more great games right now (the Wii's only been out A WEEK), but that's the most ridiculous statement I've heard in a while dude. Like it or not, the Wii looks like it's going to be quite a success, and with success comes good dev support and great games.

On the other hand, Zelda currently higher rated then any other next-gen game, if that's what you meant.
But we can exclude it as it's really just a port.

Even if you wipe out the ports on the 360 side, you've still got Gears of War, Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved and Viva Piñata (better than most reviewers say it is).

Lol! icon_lol.gif

I'll put it this way...the 360 I couldn't wait, had to get the moment it was available, also had to play the moment I got it. Bought the Wii almost two weeks ago...still haven't opened it or been tempted enough to play it.

Like slap said though....it really depends on the games and what you're into.

Personally I think at the moment on Wii there are way too many ports, movie tie-ins and multiplatform titles for my liking.

Virtual Console doesn't constitute as original/new content.

EDIT: But this is a completely invalid argument as the 360 has been out for over a year and the Wii has been out for a total of err....1 month (correct me if i'm wrong). So in 1 years time we'll see how many must-haves the Wii produces.
Isn't Far Cry already out for the Wii?

And it's GT Pro Series not GT Pro Series 2.

And isn't it God of War 2?
Had to get the moment it was available, ugh? To play what, exactly? (not trying to start more console wars bullcrap, just genuinely curious).

At the moment I don't think any console has that 'killer app' / must-have title that you would go out and buy the console purely for, even if no other games ever came out. Zelda is probably closest, but, if you are a Zelda fan, theres probably a good chance you already own a gamecube, and, while the Wii version may be better, I still don't see how it could be $400 better. Meanwhile, Gears of War and Viva Pinata both look brilliant, and should be picked up by pretty much every 360 owner, but I don't think either on their own would convince people to buy a 360 (though I'm sure plenty of Halo fans decided to 'Jump In' early and grab Gears as well).

Thats my 2 cents on the issue, anyhoo.

Arg. It all sounds like a lame excuse for Nintendo though dosent it? Its true they can make games that utilise the controls in a cool way but the quality of the software? I dont think they have the power to break into next gen like the 360 does. Also am I right in saying that Microsoft could utilise this new control method at any time with the 360?

Dont get me wrong David im sure there will be some great games. But are they going to be anything that they couldnt have just released a generation ago?

I really wanted Condemned (graphics whore = me and this game looked amazing in certain screens). Also i'm a huge Rare fan especially their cartoon adventure type games and Kameo really delivered imo.

I also was intrigued by the scope of Oblivion so I wanted that (I think the 2nd or 3rd RPG i've ever bought)....but was quite dissapointed with the glitches/bugs (great game however despite those flaws).

I have no doubt I will enjoy Zelda....even to the point where it might even match all 3 of those games put together....but i'm having an easy time staving off the temptation to play it....which is quite surprising given my history with new console (rabidly rip it open just to touch it).
