Australian sales charts, week ending 25/10/06

PALGN News | PC game takes the top spot.
EA's latest online multiplayer PC shooting extravaganza, Battlefield 2142, has taken the charts by storm this week, debuting in the coveted #1 position. If one new entry at the top wasn't enough, Splinter Cell: Double Agent for the Xbox 360 has taken the #2 spot on debut. This somewhat surprisingly pushes former champion, Pokemon Mystery Blue, down to #3. Standing firm at #4 is FIFA 07, the only game to do so this week. New Super Mario Bros. is at #5, up five spots from last week.

Pokemon Mystery Red for the GBA finds itself down from #2 to #6 this week - quite a heavy loss in only the third week for a Pokemon game. Singstar Anthems continued its chart yo-yoing act, dropping to #7 from #3 last week. World of Warcraft is still kicking around at #8 - will it ever stop selling? Probably not until a sequel, at a guess. Lego Star Wars II for the PS2 found itself at #9, while Kingdom Hearts 2 rounds out the charts at #10.

The charts are updated weekly and are provided by GfK.

Does GfK still have the market share graphs, That show how much % each console is selling ? They used to be in the back of Hyper but they haven't been in there for ages.

Call of Duty 2 and PGR3 still in the 360 top 10 icon_eek.gif

^ They're still good games, and they're cheap, and a lot of package deals include them. I bought my 360 two weeks ago and got PGR3 as one of my two games.

Yeah, I know they're great games. I have them both and still play them alot. I was just surprised they are still selling so well. Isn't CoD2 still $100 ?

I imagine that they're still selling well because they are a few of the good games that are floating at the top in a sea of mediocre titles. *shrug*

Apparently it isn't so bad as people make out - linky.

Honestly though, I don't know why people wouldn't just wait for Quake Wars icon_smile.gif

Well it is pretty cheap to purchase these days and with the 14 day trial demo doing the rounds everywhere I would guess that people are still giving it a go; like myself, I have always been a bit wary but I got the demo last weekend and now I am afraid I am becoming hooked on it! I will probably purchasing the retail version when the trial runs out and helping it to stay in the charts.

^ yeah, the full game is now only $25 too, which is pretty damn cheap. (although, i suppose if you were to compare that with another game that came out in 2004, it'd be about the same).

even if you do need to dl 500+MB before you can play.

the only hint i can give for people afraid of throwing their lives away on wow, is download an in-game clock mod. preferably with an alarm on it. ignore what everyone else says, being able to know EXACTLY what time it is IRL is better than keeping up high DPS.

Package deals don't count on the charts (because games packed with a console are considered to have cost zero dollars), so it must be existing owners picking them up.
