First up is Supanova. Set to appear at Sydney Olympic Park on October 27 to 29, Supanova is largely an anime and comic affair. However, there are generally several video game publishers who exhibit. At this stage Activision and Vivendi are confirmed with hopefully more on the way.
Game1 Electronic Gaming Expo and Tournament is currently on track for November 4th and 5th at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. While Game1 is being held in the same venue as the Auto Salon expo, it will have its own space within the show. The organisers have purported that the expo will feature Australia's biggest gaming tournament – with players all around Australia able to take part.
Sydney-siders will also have the opportunity to see Game1 in action when the show comes to Sydney Showground Olympic Park on December 2nd and 3rd.
In-between the two Game1 shows will be the eGames & Entertainment Expo - to be held at the between November 17th to 19th also at Melbourne Exhibition Centre. eGames will feature keynote speakers, game distributors showing their latest software titles as well as hands-on opportunities, "eSport" competitions and even an Australian Video Games Awards event. Held to coincide with the PS3 launch, expect to see some major support from Sony.
A final games expo will be held in Perth between March 30th to April 1st 2007. The GO3 Electronic Entertainment Expo 2007 will be held at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre and feature a consumer expo, developer conference and a LAN party. While GO3 will have a strong developer focus, there will be several public exhibitor days where some of the major publisher should be showing their wares.
At this stage it looks like you’ll be able to go hands on with the Wii and some upcoming Xbox 360 titles at both Game1 and eGames. The PS3 is only confirmed for eGames.
We’ll have more updates on the details of these expos (including our picks for the must-see events) in the coming weeks.
