He beat off some stiff competition as well, with Zangief and Eagle of the Street Fighter games making butch appearances at 13 and 15 respectively, Birdo from the Mario universe at 11, and the King of All Cosmos of Katamari fame popping up in fifth spot. Just behind Tingle, so to speak, are the Cho Aniki Brothers, from the series of side scrolling shooters with the same name. Oddly, there's no position for Ryo of Shenmue, a character who's had his sexuality questioned a few times (quite possibly for his hobby of hunting down sailors in bars). Maybe he was just too ambiguous for the list.
The same cannot be said for Tingle however, and, although Nintendo has never (and probably will never) discuss the sexuality of the green-clad one, the site reckons it's onto a winner: "He’s a 34 year old man-child who wants nothing more in the world than to be a fairy [...] His creepy weird face with tiny mustache, beauty mark, and whore rouge looks like Tammy Faye Bakker on an Adavan bender. And of course, there’s his obsession with jewels and trademark greeting of “Ooooooo” which sounds like Paul Lynde getting a high colonic." Well, quite.
