Kojima pitching in on Super Smash Bros. Brawl

PALGN News | He's designing Snake's stage.
A small tidbit of trivia here for those looking forward to Super Smash Bros. Brawl on the Wii: Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima is apparently contributing to the much-anticipated fighter, apparently by designing Snake's stage in the game.

The new detail came from US rag Nintendo Power, when the magazine decided to write up a 'debate' on who would duff up who in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. You know, a bit like those arguments we all used to have when we were eight and used to dispute who's Dad was the strongest. Anyway, here's what was said:

Chris H: "If you want to talk about something big, how about the news Hideo Kojima, Snake's creator, is designing Snake's level in Brawl? Snake's inclusion means we're not only getting one of the best characters in gaming, but one of the best developers as well."

So there you go - Kojima is working on the Wii, which certainly makes us wonder if he's got anything else planned for the console. Stay tuned, we guess, and head to the Media Panel for a shot of Snake about to snap Link's girly neck in his Kojima-designed stage.

Cool. I hope more 3rd party developers (and other 1st and 2nd party dvelopers that wouldn't usually be directly involved, too) get on board and add their own touches as well, it would make the game even nicer than it already is.

Sounds good, can't wait to get ahold of this game.

Can't wait to get on and fight with Snake.

What a great character to include into the game! I still can't get over it, and that was E3!

Hey, won't 10 minute codec conversations break the flow of a fighting game?

Why is a Nintendog in there?

I think I recall reading that the Nintendog serves a similar purpose to the squid in Mario Kart DS, i.e, it pops up and obscures the screen. This seems a strange function however, as you and your opponents all use the same screen. Maybe it's for something else.

yer, your right it is for blocking the screen. you may share the same screen with multiplayer on the console but dont forget online play.

Yep, good point - hadn't thought of that.

If people are happy to use that damn invisibilty thing in Melee, I'm sure a giant dog in the middle of the screen isn't going to make too much difference.

Super Smash on Wii should be good but i want to see how they will do the controls, could be a letdown

It'll use Gamecube controllers (well, its not confirmed, but Sakurai said something along the lines of "I'd hold onto your Gamecube controllers for now", so I don't see why it wouldn't be).

I think using GCN controllers would be easier than the Wii-mote.
