LucasArts confirms support for all next-gen consoles

PALGN News | The Force surrounds us!
While it's been known that LucasArts has been developing Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy for the Xbox 360 for some time, no word had been officially confirmed for Nintendo or Sony's next-gen consoles. During the ComicCon event in America however, the developer officially announced that it would give support to all next-gen consoles.

While many thought it was safe to assume support for the PS3, there were still many doubts over any LucasArts support for the Wii, due to a substantial lack of GameCube support from the Star Wars game developer. Following a report from a British tabloid (which was later dismissed by Nintendo) and speculation from our own forum members it is now safe to say that a Star Wars game is 100% in development for the Wii.

As for what titles we can expect to grace the Wii and PS3, nothing was mentioned. However, Steve Sansweet did mention that the Wii controller was very similar to a lightsaber. Does this mean we'll be seeing lightsaber-swinging action game on the Wii? PALGN will keep you informed on any new developments.

For the Wii game they should allow you to take part in all the lightsaber battles from all six films.

A perfect example would be playing as Luke when he fights Darth Vader in Return of the Jedi.

looks fricking sweet. Can see that being controlled by the Wiimote would be very cool.

wii light saber acrion would be cool. It would be nice though for Lucas Arts to start making some new and interesting games based on new IP's like they were in the mid 90's.

I sure hope LucasArts don't ruin it. I'd sooner them spend three years on the title rather than rush it and release it next year some time.

I agree with you rodvcpetrie, they should have it across all six films and have all the lightsaber fights. Like I said in the other topic though, we need to be able to play as the bad guys too.

Also, I'd love to play through some of the other none-lightsaber fights too such as a few Clone War campaings and such. There's a lot of material to use, there's expanded universe (comics, novels etc) and the short cartoon series that was on Cartoon Network. Plus, there's the new star wars TV show coming up.

What about Indiana Jones? I'd like to see what they can do with that too. Perhapes using the Wii-mote as a whip?

No chance of that being on the Wii. Look at the graphics and physics. I don't even think the Xbox 360 or PS3 could manage that in real time.

We're going to an Activison & LucasArts preview event early next week, so we may get some more details then.

That video looks pretty cool. What I wouldn't give for that to be KOTOR3 (by Bioware) on Xbox 360!

Ligth saber fights on Wii would be awesome, but i think that the best thing would be space battles with the remote, if they did it well

Indeed. I'd like to see a decent take on the Battle of Corucant. It's like the biggest battle we've seen and only two games have included it. Battlefront 2 and Lego Star Wars. Battlefront 2's take on it was poor in my opinon. It didn't seem all that "packed out" to me. The lego star wars take of the battle, while pretty good, was only a "on the rails" type of style. Alas, while the feeling was there, it wasn't exactly a Star Wars fan's dream come true.

Hey Lucasarts how about you bring back games like Sam & Max, Day of the Tentacle, Monkey Island, Full Throttle or even Grim Fandango?! Don't you think these games would work well with the Wiimote?

I'm just sick of starwars stuff!! aGk!! Maybe it's cuz Tim Schaffer has left and took all his creativity/originality with him.

Yeah when I hear LucasArts I think Full Throttle - I remember there being a remake of sorts in the works but it got scrapped... Sad day... Sad day...

Agreed. Battle of Coruscant was absolutely incredible in Episode 3, they might as well make it just as incredible in a game. BF2 remake was poor, not populated enough and felt more like a chore tbh.
