RUMOUR: Halo 3 dated?

PALGN News | Would you believe early next year?
The Xbox 360 is finally out (Down Under, at least), and there's plenty of titles on Microsoft's literally hot new console to keep a gamers hands full. Project Gotham 3, Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter, Oblivion; it was a launch line up worth waiting for. However, there is one game on every 360 owners mind that failed to make it's way onto the starting block. That game is Halo 3. And when is it coming out you ask?

According to IGN, a Microsoft source and another informant close to the company have revealed to the gaming site that Halo will make it to store shelves March 2007. Note that this isn't an official annoucement and should be taken with a grain of salt. It would be wise to wait for Microsoft themselves or even developer Bungie to come out of their hiding hole and give the stamp of approval before you start melee clubbling each other in joy.

E3 is just a few weeks away, so if any kind of official statement about this much anticipated title is to be made, that's where it'll most likely be. Hang tight and we'll all see how this pans out. Let's just hope it doesn't end with an 'APRIL'S FOOLS!!' from IGN. Otherwise there'll be melee clubbing of a more sinister nature. Stay tuned.

This can't be an April fool's joke, well at least not a good one....hang on it's from IGN, which leads me back to square one icon_razz.gif

Seriously though, if it is true, big deal, we have another 12 months to wait. If it's not, big deal, we still have probably another 12 months to wait.

Big deal anyway, it's Halo.

Pass me my anti-Xbox fanboy shield.

Another rumor, another bit of hype centering around the Halo series. After what happened to Halo 2, hearing such things about the third installment isn't going to alter my feelings, emotions or actions.

Being a Halo fanboy, I'd like to say: Halo 3 needs to come out when it's ready and no sooner. Anyway wouldn't a more sinister melee clubbing of IGN be a good idea anyway?

Halo 3. Big deal. I agree with Theory, nobody cares icon_smile.gif

Oh, you all say that now (hell, even I say that now icon_razz.gif), but just you wait till Microsoft roll out that hype machine. It worked with Halo 2, you can bet your arse it'll work on Halo 3. You'll see, you'll all see...

^Halo 2 didn't work it's magic on me, because I hated Halo from the start. icon_razz.gif Oh and I was more into Killzone at the time, and of what I recall, Killzone was released on the 25th of November, so a couple of weeks after Halo 2.

Depends on the person playing the game. I find that Doom Quake and Unreal are the only games that I prefer to be on the PC because they require the lightning fast aiming a mouse gives.

Consoles give more immersion into the game as the controller vibrates as your gun fires, the aim is slower and more deliberate like in real life.

Whatever, Halo 2 stands up to any PC FPS. The online party/matchmaking system is brillant and it's so incredibly balanced. Halo 2 would be another average FPS without the online side, I would agree 100%, but as a package the game is fantastic.

I'm not saying Halo's Live service is bad, I'm saying the experience of playing it online is overrated - it's no more enjoyable than any other online FPS. If anything it's less enjoyable for being Halo.

I've always been with Obs on this one - the PC is the home of FPS, no console-made game will ever stand up to F.E.A.R/HL2/FarCry/etc. on PC.

I don't see how it's less enjoyable because it's Halo. It's a great universe/story.

But anyway, this is a pointless argument in the same vain of Macs vs PCs. People just seem to love bagging out Halo because it's popular and it's M$ related...

Or 'cause they just don't like it. Which is me. Don't think this is some baseless opinion, I completed both Halo and Halo 2 with a totally open mind, giving it as much time and effort as any other game, and I just didn't like it. Sorry if that offends you or something. icon_confused.gif S'all good though eh? icon_wink.gif

Oh and FYI, Macs are better. icon_razz.gif *run!*

yeah it's a good story and universe... pity it was a great story and universe in the Ringworld books 10 years ago too.

to be fair though, i've barely played Halo 2, and i was keen on it coming to PC so i could rent it, but i didn't like Halo 1 much at all. perhaps it was because i really only played the PC version (i did try the XBox version when it was launched, but i hate console FPS controls) and on PC it's just so damn clunky and horrid it's a wonder i ever finished it.

I've played and completed both, and I just couldn't get into it. I guess the artistic design put me off too, because I enjoy a war where there's death, blood, destruction, and just feeling of hopelessness, yet Halo was so bright and vibrant and....bleh. I just couldn't connect to that. It's a well crafted game, and it's polished, but I just didn't get into it.

Amen to that. I still think Unreal Tournament and 2004 are the best fps games ever though, so none of the games you listed match up for me. FEAR definately comes close though icon_wink.gif

To be fair, Halo was pretty ordinary with a horror framerate (my biggest beef with any game is a bad framerate). But it was a fanastic world, solid characters and "war" like feel. But was no Half-life.

Halo 2 just had some great set peices and brillant online service. Why can't more games use Match making with random maps? Makes it so easy, fair and fun!

Anyway, I'm not out to bliss your opinions, if you've played them and don't like it that's fair enough. I'm the same with GTA, I just can't stand those games with giant lifeless worlds and with awful shooting mechanics claiming to be a "virutal sandbox".
