Australian sales charts, week ending 05/03/06

PALGN News | It's a black day for the charts.
V8 Supercars 3 on the PS2 is still the #1 game this week, after its strong debut upset Most Wanted. And, let's face it, it's likely to stay there for quite some time to come. However, Criterion shooter Black, which we thought was pretty good, has debuted strongly - #2 for the PS2 incarnation, and the Xbox version is right behind it at #3. This tough rookie has pushed former #2, V8 Supercars 3 on the Xbox, down to #4. A new Sims expansion also launched last week - Open for Business - and, of course, it has instantly hit the charts, landing at #5.

The strong newcomers in the top 5 has led to two former chart toppers being pushed down the pecking order. At #6 is Star Wars: Empire at War, and right behind it is Need for Speed: Most Wanted - a far cry from its glory days of only a few weeks ago at #7. Rugby 06 has also been hit hard by the newcomers, reaching a rather low #8 this week in only its second week of sale. The last two games in the charts have managed to somehow hold onto their positions this week, despite all the movement above them - they are World of Warcraft at #9, and Grand Theft Auto: Libtery City Stories at #10.

The charts are updated weekly and are provided by GfK.

I just realised something... maybe the DS charts are all full of crap because anyone who knows anything imports most of their DS games? Maybe? I can dream, can't I?

For the first time I sat and thought... "wow, i'm contributing to charts on a whole different continent"... and I must have looked like this - icon_eek.gif

Blew my mind.

My oh my, how can Pokemon still be on top after all these time. Don't the kids get sick of collecting them over and over again?

Hasbro 4 Game Fun Pack seems to be doing a decent job in the Nintendo DS charts. Though, it would be nice to see it sitting on the shelf one day, making it possible to see what the game looks like, at least. Though, what is Lunar Genesis?
