Australian sales charts, week ending 22/01/06

PALGN News | Still the same old charts.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted is still looking untouchable at #1 - and may continue to do so until the Xbox 360 launch in March provides the charts with some much needed new blood. Smackdown vs. Raw 2006 is still kicking around, moving back up to #2 from #3 this week. This was at the expense of Buzz: The Music Quiz though, who took a tumble to #3. Returning to its seemingly native position of #4 is Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, who seems to have spent the majority of its chart life there. Continuing to kick around the middle of the charts is Ricky Ponting Cricket 2005, finishing at an appropriate #5 this week.

Making another strong surge are those damn Nintendogs, specifically Dachschund, finishing at a strong #6 this week. Eyetoy: Play 3 also continues to bounce up and down the chart, landing towards the bottom at #7 this time around. One of the two games to suffer a drop in the charts this week was Need for Speed: Most Wanted on the Xbox, but it's still proving to be a tough customer, hanging around at #8. Ratchet: Gladiator also made the smallest of rises, from #10 to #9. Rounding out the chart is Mario Kart DS, re-entering at #10.

I'm still suprised that Mario Kart isn't doing better, but I'm glad it's in an otherwise quite dul top 10.

Well it is bundled with the DS....so its "sold" more depending how you look on it.

It's nice that Nintendogs and Mario Kart DS are back in the all formats chart. That's a surprise considering it's been basically all Playstation 2 titles for the last few weeks.

I find it amazing how poorly the gamecube has performed in Australia.. I mean I have all three systems and I definitely play my gamecube the most. But I firmly believe that whoever is running nintendo in Oz should be given the ass.. They cant advertise any of their products at all. I mean if Microsoft can make the ugliest and biggest(in size) designed console in history become the no. 2 console in this country then the people at nintendo should be ashamed. The gamecube has some awesome games which the general public know nothing about. Some people dont even know what the gamecube is. Its sad how the gaming public in Oz fall for all this advertising, and advertising is something nintendo cannot do.. hopefully people support the revolution, as I believe we should support innovation and originality, not just graphics and graphics.

The problem with the Gamecube is that its purple (well ,the ones they used in the marketing) and it has a handle.

Sorry, had to say that. This whole, 'Nintendo is kiddy' bullsh!t pisses me off to no end. It's mostly coming from stupid kids who's balls probably haven't even dropped yet. Arrg, I'm pissed.

The purple put me off buying one (I caved in at the black one and Zelda collection in addition to free game). But I love the handle, Nintendo makes their products so nice and solid, it's like the ultimate fanboy whacker! I just wish I had more then four games for it (I don't like Zelda, Mario or Metroid).

Yeah well, this is a problem I'm sure all GC owners had to dealt with one time or another.

I've gotten to a point that I couldn't care less about those who knows no sh!t about the GC.

Just stuff them, their the one who's missing out.

Yeah, there was a time when in some ways I believed the 'it's kiddy' thing. But now I kinda want a GC, to play some of the normal nintendo games but also for donkey konga and dancing stage mario. But $100 for either of those games and for the system is too much for me.
