I'm confused. What's the difference between Indigo Prophecy and Fahrenheit?
Is the EB 2 for $50 sale worth checking out?
I'm dying for some gamecube games!
Yeah, I saw that sale on today. There was only one game I would have wanted (Transformers PS2), but I needed two to get the deal. Oh well.

And Fahrenheit is what the game is called in PAL regions, Indigo Prophecy for NTSC. Great game. Try the demo then decide whether to pick it up or not. For most people, that demo is one hell of a hook.

I've yet to get it though, still waiting for the PC version. Hurry up already!
That's a tad disappointing knowing that I could have gotten Fahrenheit a little cheaper than I did. Oh well.
I should check EB's sale, last one they had I picked up Rallisport Challenge 2 and Ninja Gaiden. Top games they were. icon_smile.gif

EB Games at Eastgardens is selling Nintendogs for $38!!

Altho go to GamesWizard to pick it up cause they price match and they're better sales people icon_lol.gif

JB Hi Fi have Nintendogs for $42.98! Cheapest I've seen in Melbourne.

I just bought Burnout:Revenge from Games Wizards (in libcome, syd) for $78.95, bargain! They also have the DS+Nintendogs bundle for $199, or just the game for $44.95. They had some other price cuts too.

Jeez the cheapest I have seen is $88, not that I bought it. Can't afford that but I might buy Takedown.

Takedown can be found for $30, if you were wondering.

Yeah I noticed that and thought well I liked it when I rented it and everyone says Burnout is great, so its Holidays hopefully Nan gives me some dosh although I do have $30 should I buy?
I say buy it. There's some fantastic lasting value in that game. It's personally the only game that I have consistently gone back to for months. I actually think it's been almost a year and I'm still playing it. If you've never played a burnout game before, this is the best way to be introduced into the series.

And $30 is chump change for a game like this.
Exactly. It is/was the best arcade racer money can buy and at $30, it is a steal. You owe it yourself, seriously.

Since we're talking Burnout 3, Is it worth getting the PS2 version? I don't have an Xbox right now, and played burnout 2 on Gamecube, I wasn't sure I could cope with the visual downgrade.
I've got the PS2 version and it looks really pretty. Sure if you had the two copies side by side you'd notice small differences, but I think this PS2 version holds it's own really well. It also runs at a silky smooth framerate. The only thing that irks me about it is the long load times, something the Xbox owners don't have to put up with. Control wise, I feel the PS2 wins over the Xbox. The dual analogue stick setup for controlling the steering and acceleration/braking makes it incredibly easy to nail those 4 second drifts. I've got Revenge on the Xbox, and I've yet to warm up to its control scheme. Using 'A' as the boost/aftertouch button is just weirding me out. That should be reserved for shoulder buttons dammit!

Then again, I've put 100+ hours into Takedown, and probably about 3 hours for Revenge. I think I'll come round soon enough, although I'm not looking forwards to getting the hang of one scheme, then having to get used to another every time I switch between the two games. Maybe I should just get the PS2 version after all.

Just in case anyone was wondering:
PS2 control scheme - Left stick steers, right stick accelerates/brakes, R1 (or was it R2?) boost/aftertouch. See? It's so simple!
Xbox control scheme - Left stick steers, right trigger accelerates, left trigger brakes, A button boost/aftertouch. This scheme is hardly bad, far from it, but comparitively I'd choose the PS2 scheme for it's ease of use. And I'm getting sick of pulling the right trigger to aftertouch... icon_razz.gif

EDIT: changed left shoulders to right shoulders

So you use the right analog stick for acceleration and braking?
I have always used X and square.
So did I but I decided to try the stick out. I've never looked back since! All you've got to do to innitiate a drift is flick the stick down and up again whilst turning then boost in mid-drift to rocket around that corner. It's a sweet feeling.

I'm coming round to using the triggers though. Maybe 100+ hours into Revenge and the two schemes will stand neck and neck. Time will tell.
Sorry, but the xbox controls for revenge crap on the PS2 version. The triggers are much more natural to use for their intended purposes than the PS2's shoulder buttons. Plus it makes drifting a heck of a lot easier. icon_razz.gif
6 years ago
I am with Civic on this one. The Xbox control scheme **** all over the Ps2 one. Having the triggers as the accelerator and brake are brilliant, and the A button is the perfect button for the boost and Aftertouch. I suppose I have been used to it from the start though as I used a similar set-up with the two GCN games.
We could argue this for days... let's not. icon_wink.gif

I think if I had bought the Xbox version instead of the PS2 one, I'd be agreeing with you guys. But as I didn't, I adamantly disagree. icon_razz.gif

Afterall, first impressions, last.

Aw man... $79 was the best I found, so I'm still satisfied. EB sucks.

Using the right stick to accel/brake never worked for me when I tried it, you can't do both at the same time! icon_razz.gif Analog triggers are the best, even beating pedals which seem to be always badly made.

Hence the comment regarding the GCN games. icon_wink.gif

With the exception of a certain Gran Turismo wheel though, of course. icon_biggrin.gif

Anyway, this has ventured off topic quite badly...
