Updated Australian Release List - 05/09/05

PALGN Feature | Post-PSP launch syndrome sets in as drought of new releases hits home.

After the giddiness of last week's PSP launch, the videogame landscape is looking blanker than an Australian Ashes scorecard for the next few days, and not just for the new, proud owners of Sony's handheld. Thank goodness for Ubisoft then, who are determined to give us something to chew on this week, with a new Rainbow Six title (subtitle: the manly sounding 'Lockdown') in the next few days, as well as a special release to celebrate Rayman's tenth anniversary (and yes, 'TEN years already?!' was our first thought as well).

Oh, and Sony's offering us Brave: The Search For Spirit Dancer - expect our review of that in the next few days, and be warned: judging by David's disgusted response towards the review code we received, it ain't gonna be pretty. See you next week!

Damn, I was hoping for something more conclusive than "Fourth Quarter TBC" for Battalion Wars. It's not looking good...

It certainly isn't. Which is a good thing. Because compared to the 2D Advance Wars games, it looks rubbish.

HEY! I meant the release date isn't lookin good, not the game!! Stop twisting my words... GET OUTTA MY HEAD!!!

You techincally can't compare this with Advance Wars, because it's not supposed to be Advance Wars 3D. The developers changed the games name to steer the public away from this view. So as a brand new franchise, this looks to be a blast.

In the meantime, I'll just throw these babies out again...

I really hope when review time come around, you'll be taking the back seat on this one... you just might drive your evil, evil opinions into propective buyers heads...

Hehe, nah I was only stirring a bit. I'll probably even buy BW myself. But I'm yet to be convinced that the Advance Wars formula will work in anything other than 2D. I'm staying open-minded though, as it'd be great if they were as enjoyable as the 2D games. For now, call me cynical, but hopeful.

(and it'll probably be the other Chris handling the review, as he tends to get everything the moment it leaves Nintendo's studios.)

Where the heck is Super Mario Strickers? Bah.

Hope battalion wars makes this year, the hands-on reports I've read seem quite good (it's done a complete 180 since E3 2004).

Super Mario Strikers has been known as Mario Smash Football for a couple of months now. And Nintendo hasn't given us anything on it's release, so it's not up yet. As soon as we get a date, it'll be up there.
