PALGN Staff Interview #1: Brendan

PALGN News | We interview one of our own.
Whilst we spend a lot of time interviewing publishers and PR directors from around the world, so we thought we'd give our readers a bit of an insight into some of our staff members, who work such incredibly long hours and put in such a large effort. We've decided to trial this concept, so if you want to see future staff interviews then please add your comments into the comments field in our forums. We decided to start with one of our veteran writers, who has been writing for PALGN since it begun, Brendan.

1.What is your position at PALGN?
Editor.

2. What country / state are you in?
Australia / South Australia.

3. Favourite Game/s of all time?
Day of Defeat, the Half Life mod, is right up there. Almost perfectly balanced online shooter with many fantastic maps. Of course, like everybody else, Ocarina of Time and Super Mario 64 are games I have very fond memories of. There are many more, but I think those three stand up above the rest.

4. Least Favourite Games?
Last year I had the misfortune of having to review GT-R 400, which had basically no redeeming features at all. I shudder at the thought of playing that again. Thankfully, I can't recall playing a game as bad as that this decade.

5. What do you do aside from PALGN?
I'm currently a student attending university. Isn't that thrilling? Spending a lot of time looking for some part time retail work over the past few weeks, too, so hopefully that leads somewhere. As far as other stuff goes, I'm a big fan of cricket, ice hockey (The NHL is back! Yeah!) and heavy metal. I play the drums, too.

6. If you were locked in a room with someone for all eternity who would you want it to be?
There is no single person I could tolerate for that long.

7. What consoles do you own?
Lots! Of this generation, I have the big three; PS2, Xbox and the GCN. I hope to add a NDS to this sometime soon.

8. What will be your next game purchase?
I have just ordered Initial D: Special Stage on PS2. The cartoon made me buy it, heh. Now I just have to wait for it to arrive in the mail...

9. Why do you write for PALGN?
Lots of reasons, really. I can't shake this hobby of games, being one. Improving my writing ability, being two.

10. What upcoming game are you most anticipating?
There's a heap of games that I'm looking forward too, but nothing I'm about to kill anybody over. Battalion Wars on the GCN is probably the pick of the bunch at this stage.

11. In your opinion what's the most irritating game ever released?
Irritating game? What the hell kind of question is that? You're fired.

12.What games are you currently playing?
Most of my gaming is on the PC, at the moment. Day of Defeat still gets a fair amount of attention, as does Battlefield 2. Codename Panzers: Phase Two has seen a bit of playtime over the past few days, and I should have a review up on it soon. I'm loving Street Fighter III: Third Strike in the Xbox anniversary collection, too - I don't care how cheap Akuma is, either.

We'd like to extend our thanks to Brendan for the time he put into this interview, remember if you want to see more interviews then add your comments in the forum!

this is a good idea, and i think it should be added somewhere to the main page for more casual readers (and new readers) to find out what makes PALGN tick icon_smile.gif

some questions i'd add though is:
What is your earliest gaming memory?
What was the first game/console you played/bought?
If you could order developer's to do/change one thing in their games, what would it be?

or some variation of them icon_smile.gif

hey, not bad questions though.
Answers rated: 6/10
Reason: C'mon, uh, BRendan! Make us amused! I don't join palgn everyday to just hang around looking at black print all day! Nice screenshots too btw icon_smile.gif
