It's been a relatively relaxing weekend, especially if you're a university student recovering from the hectic exam period, so what better way to start the week than a roundup of the biggest rumours of the weekend?
Revolution to output to multiple screens?
What started as a poorly worded, obviously fake "IGN" article has spurred a lot of dicussion about this particular issue.
Revolution Update
Revolution to be able to output to multiple televisions.
by Matt Casamassina
July 3, 2005 - At a share holders meeting today, Nintendo Co. Ltd.'s president, Saturo Iwata, revealed that the company's next generation game console, code-named Revolution, would be able to wirelessly output to multiples televisions. He went on to explain that this would, "add an exciting, new element to multiplayer games," and would, "give developers a tool to deliver creative and fun gaming expierences."
Our thoughts? The article is definitely a fake - even IGN's spelling isn't that poor. There is a slim possibility that Nintendo could use Ultra Wide Band technology to output to multiple screens, but given the extra equipment required and the position Nintendo is taking (no HD support and so on), this just isn't going to happen.
Big announcements regarding Japanese software for the Xbox 360
From Famitsu, via Gamespot
Famitsu reports Microsoft is on the verge of unveiling another batch of publishers and games; still no PlayStation 3 or Revolution summer events announced.
According to the latest issue of Famitsu, Microsoft Japan will be holding an announcement in July where it will reveal new third-party publishers and game titles for the Xbox 360 aimed at the Japanese market. A representative from the company told the magazine that "there could be some major surprises" at the conference.
So, there's definitely going to be an announcement, but what software is in store? GamesRadar seems to think that the much awaited Shenmue III is amongst the titles to be announced. We believe this is unlikely, though certain members of the PALGN staff would love for it to happen. We'll just have to wait and see.
The Next GTA?
On Friday, noted rumour provider Jeux France came out with what was allegedly a screenshot of the new GTA, as well as a few details.
Rockstar initially played the no comment card, but later came out to say that the picture does not resemble any GTA product in development. So, does that mean the game is in development, but this ain't it? We'd like to think so, but it's another case of wait and see.
