PALGN adds regions

PALGN News | As you may have noticed, PALGN has added a system of making articles regional. This will allow us to provide the targeted gaming content you want.
PALGN has always been about providing gaming content to people living in PAL countries that could never get their news from any other source. While we have always covered all the information applicable to people living in all PAL regions, with this new system you can get to the news you need straight away.

I’m still ironing out some of the bugs, so if you find any problems with the system, please add it as a comment to the article.

As always suggestions for improvement are appreciated.

Zem, Belthalus_Ollohst can't get into PALGN now. Whenever he clicks on any of the flags, it just reloads the flag page for him to click all over again. It's a vicious cycle. icon_wink.gif

Any suggestions?

The flag-selection-screen looks very slick and pretty. Kudos to you, Zem icon_smile.gif

I haven't encountered any problems 'thus far, though.

By clicking on a regions flag do we only see those articles? If so you may need a 'view all' button or something, a lot of people import and would read news etc from other countries.
If you still see all the articles in every region whats the point? The site is slow enough as it is without having to click the region rubbish at the start.
Sorry, but i really hate it when you type in a site and it doesn't go straight there. Mostly from places with adverts and **** to click through but chosing a region is a tad annoying. Maybe theres a way to have the regions without having to click on the front page? maybe small flags on the menu bar or something?

Once you click the flag once, it remembers your preference for the next time so you don't have to keep clicking it everytime you visit the page.

Yeah if you have cookies active, you will only have to choose your region once. After that it should remember your preference. You would only have to choose again each time if you didn't have cookies active, or if you were on a computer you hadn't used palgn on before.

About the articles, they're all still there, just rearanged. I haven't completed finished the system, but what it will be is that the article for your country will be up the top, the more general ones in the middle, and other countries down the bottom (i.e. if you pick Australia, Australian articles will be up the top, PAL article in the middle and article from other countreis down the bottom). The front page still shows the latest 20 articles, but it just rearanges them.
