Australian Sales Charts - Week Ending 16/01/05

PALGN News | Can anyone stop the domination of GTA?
By the looks of things, no.

GTA: San Andreas seems to have taken quite a liking to the #1 spot, fending off brief challenges from Halo 2 - currently sitting at #5 - and NFS: Underground 2, which has made #2 its home. And, until Gran Turismo 4 hits, we wouldn't be betting on it moving anytime soon.

Only newcomer to the charts this week was - yet again - The Sims: Deluxe, which just refuses to stay out of the top 10.

The charts are updated weekly and are provided by GfK.

All Consoles (full priced games)

PS2 (over $50)

GameCube (over $50)

Xbox (over $50)

GBA (over $30)

Proof right there that no matter how much it was hyped, Halo 2 just can't match the quality of San Andreas...

Proof maybe there are more PS2 owners than Xbox pehaps?

Yeah that's possible as well I guess. However, out of the 2 games Halo 2 was easily the more hyped and more well-known then San Andreas was. Everyone knew Halo 2 was out on November 9th, a lot of people didn't even know San Andreas had released when it did. (around here anyway)

Plus Halo 2 was also a big disappointment for a lot of people, while San Andreas doesn't seem to have disappointed anyone really. I assume that because of this, word got around and some people might not have bought Halo 2. Then again, 6.5 million copies around the world or whatever the figure was has probably just proved me wrong. icon_wink.gif
