PALGN Weekly Releases - 05/06/11

PALGN Feature | It's time to kick ass and chew bubble gum.
The big week of E3 2011 is accompanied by an equally big week of gaming. Some quiet portable gaming with Hello Kitty Loving Life and Jewel Quest Solitaire Trio kick things off on the Nintendo DS, while Rise of Atlantis and 4 Elements give PC gamers something to puzzle over.

But this week is truly dominated by three big titles. One in particular celebrates one of the most noteworthy gaming legacies, and frankly once it's released we're not sure what we're going to do with ourselves. Read below to check out this week's goodies.

Duke Nukem Forever

Platform(s): Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC
Release Date: Friday 10th June
Genre: First Person Shooter
RRP: $108.00

Hail to the king, baby. It's finally here! After fourteen years of rocky development and teases, to the point of becoming a well known joke within the gaming community, Duke Nukem Forever is going to be released (pending the end of the Earth). Finished up at the hands of Gearbox Software, Duke Nukem Forever allows players to once again put on the shades of Duke himself, and rid the world of yet another alien invasion. Assault troopers, octabrains, shrink rays and babes; they're all here, and they're out to grab you by the balls this Friday.

Platform(s): PlayStation 3
Release Date: Thursday 9th June
Genre: Action/Sandbox
RRP: $98.00
Demo: N/A

In inFAMOUS 2 players are reunited with Cole MacGrath. Confronted by the Beast, Cole realises he lacks the strength to topple this foe, and chooses to retreat to the city of New Marais to become stronger. Familiar sandbox action elements that fans loved from the first game return, along with a slew of new powers for Cole, new enemies, grandeur presentation, and even a mission builder that allows users to construct their own challenges and share them with friends. inFAMOUS 2 will be out exclusively on the PlayStation 3 this Thursday.

Red Faction: Armageddon

Platform(s): Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC
Release Date: Thursday 9th June
Genre: Action
RRP: $108.00
Demo: N/A
PALGN links: Preview | Trailer

Better red than dead. Sequel to fan favourite Red Faction: Guerrilla, Armageddon takes a holiday from the surface of Mars for the caverns underneath. Colonists taking shelter from the uninhabitable surface soon find they're not alone, forced to fight for survival against an awakened Martian threat. Armageddon features the series staple of deformable structures, allowing players to bring down buildings and structures, and even rebuild them with the right equipment. Did we mention it features a farting unicorn? Pick up Red Faction: Armageddon this Thursday.

Thursday 9th June:

inFAMOUS 2 (PlayStation 3)
Red Faction: Armageddon (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC)
Rise of Atlantis (PC)
4 Elements (PC)
Hello Kitty Loving Life (Nintendo DS)

I know what I'll be getting. I'm going to feel dirty purchasing the game. But, it will be a good sense of 'dirty.'
