PALGN's Periodical Rumour Harvest #10

PALGN Feature | A Halo movie in the works? A few Nintendo DS rumours included as well to celebrate it's American launch.
Halo to be on the silver screen?
According to Ain't It Cool News it seems Halo, the movie may be in the works with acclaimed director Ridley Scott showing interest in this proposed project.

The source adds that Scott had actually been approached about Halo in the past and wasn't interested, but with the huge sales of Halo 2 anything could happen. Ridley has been hesitant to take on the project in the past because he hasn't seen "a world for a story," but it seems a potential script is being created as we speak…

PALGN is skeptical about a game to movie conversion of Halo. Just thinking about past game to movie adaptations is enough to make one shudder, but with the experience of Ridley Scott and his fame of such movies such as Alien, Blade Runner and Gladiator, maybe it could work… just maybe.

RARE to create games for the Nintendo DS?

We have been hearing some very strong rumours lately that RARE are considering developing Sabre Wolf and Blast Corps for the Nintendo DS. This was further supported earlier this month by an interview that IGN had with RARE where they also expressed interest in developing for the Nintendo DS.

Metal Gear Solid 3 Release Date confirmation?
We are hearing some really varied dates regarding when Metal Gear Solid 3 will see a release in Australia. The date seems to be hovering around the 30th of March to the 30th of April. PALGN thinks it is fair to say that Metal Gear Solid 3 will be out sometime in the middle of April. Stay tuned to the updated release dates any changes.

Nintendo DS MMORPG coming from EA?
No, EA aren't taking The Sims Online to the Nintendo DS. According to Cube Magazine, EA Canada is in the process of creating the DS's first MMORPG. We have no other information available at this point.

Should any of these rumours suffice PALGN will report them on the main site, so stay tuned, and remember, if they come true, PALGN brought you this news first.

Halo is a game i could see working as a movie, provided they stick fairly closely to the game story...

although i think it might be better as an animated or cg film than live-action...

i've got no idea who i'd cast though... maybe Donald Sutherland as Captain Keyes, but no clue on Masterchief or Cortana...

I'd be excited about the MMORPG news except it's coming from EA. icon_razz.gif

I've totally had enough of them...

A member of the Rareware handheld division (who was being interviewed in IGN's interview) said that he'd like to create a sequel to Sabrewulf and a Blastcorps sequel. That's probably where these strong rumours are coming from. I can see it happening, but still they aren't really based on facts. I wonder if they will ever do another Jet Force Gemini.

Halo could be alright, as long as they don't do something stupid, like have the Rock play as Master Chief - without a helmet. I reckon they should go more into the past, go into the Spartans and stuff like that.

A DS mmorpg from EA...great. Pokemon could make a cool mmorpg on the handheld.

What a waste of time for EA. Also BAH @ ANYTHING HALO, including this movie. I've ingored every single game-movie so far, and I'll keep it up until Prime.

Agreed. I think we all remember that craptacular Judge Dredd movie with Sylvester Stallone that commited a similar transgression.
