Fourth Mass Effect novel on the way

PALGN News | The pen is mightier than the stars.
The endless barrage of Mass Effect related content continues, with Big Download announcing that BioWare plan to push forward a forth novel set within their rapidly growing universe.

There are currently two released Mass Effect novels, and a third scheduled to be released in a couple of days, and all of these so far have been penned by BioWare staffer and author Drew Karpyshyn, who served as lead writing for Mass Effect and Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, co-writer for Mass Effect 2, as well as a number of Star Wars related novels.

Likely busy writing Star Wars The Old Republic, as well as playing a role in the pre-production of Mass Effect 3, the paper fiction torch has been passed on to science fiction writer William C. Dietz.

Dietz, a gamer himself, is best know for writing a number of Star Wars related novels following the adventures of Kyle Katarn, the protagonist of the Dark Forces and Jedi Knight game series, as well as work based on the Halo franchise in Halo The Flood. His latest written work is Starcraft II Heaven's Devils, somewhat of a prequel to the highly anticipated Starcraft II.

At this stage there is nothing else known about the new Mass Effect novel, other than it is planned for an early 2011 release, leaving plenty of time for fans to speculate on what stories could be told.

Awesome! I can never get enough Mass Effect.
I'll be picking up Retribution when it hits the bookshelves this week.
Looking forward to finding out what this next one will be about.

hmm.... The Flood was the Halo book based directly on the first Halo game (as opposed to the other, "extended universe" novels), it was also an awful book.

But even back when i was reading it, i wondered if the problem wasn't the author, but that the author wasn't given enough room to manoeuvre around the plot of Halo.

i hope this is the latter case. i loves me some Mass Effect.
