Valve announces new free title for Steam users

PALGN News | An Alien Swarm is coming.
Valve has announced that a new game is on the way for PC gamers and best of all it will be available for free.

Arriving on Steam early next week, Alien Swarm is described as a "epic bug hunt" which will send players on a four player co-op mission to eradicate the alien foe. For those that recognise the name, the title is a Source remake of the classic Unreal Tournament 2004 total conversion modification.

"Two years ago Valve hired the talented team behind the popular top down co-op mod Alien Swarm. Since then they have been busy working on the Left 4 Dead Series, and now Portal 2. However, we never forgot about Alien Swarm and the team has spent a lot of time bringing the game to Source in between their contributions to the other Valve projects."

Like other Valve titles, the game will also boast full Steamworks integration including achievements, Steam Cloud, matchmaking, stat tracking and anti-cheat protection.

Alien Swarm will be available for Australian gamers through Steam from 20 July.

Aww yeah! sweeet!
the difference between valve and other companies, Blizzard would of taken 4 years to make this and put the price at $119

Both Valve and Blizzard are great companies. Valve takes their sweet time with some games like Ep3 and when did blizzard sell anything for over 100 dollars?

Yet again Valve show they're one of the few companies that understand gamers, I must get through all the stuff I bought in the last Christmas sale before the next Christmas sale starts.

Aw Crap, this means I'll have no excuse not to go on another bug hunt with my mates next time we have a LAN. I was really hoping I'd never have to play this dastardly game again.
