Australian Gaming Bargains - 15/07/10

PALGN Feature | The week Harvey Norman won.
This week sees the end of Big W and Kmart's toy sales and the many bargains that came with them, but this also means a new catalogue from each retailer. Sadly this week's new catalogues from Big W, Kmart and Target are all completely devoid of gaming bargains. Harvey Norman, Myer and Toys R' Us have all released new catalogues this week, but none of them contain any particularly exciting bargains.

This weeks featured bargains from the new catalogues are:

The "collectors edition" aka "legendary" is $218

The "limited edition", still a good price of $98, however is 'not' the collectors.

You may notice, if you actually read the full article, that the legendary edition is in fact listed at $218 in the bargains. I'll go change the word collectors to limited though, because a few people seem to have trouble distinguishing between the word collectors and legendary.

In another case of it depending on the Harvey Norman store in question, one of my local stores (have typed about it before how this one always undercuts the prices.... whereas the next closest store has the games at rrp 99% of the time) had the game for $74 from it's release. Now that the real life World Cup is over, they've reduced it to $44 or so (basing this from memory, but it may have been $47... too many price tags to remember icon_razz.gif). Far cheaper than the $88 as shown in the actual catalog.

Although in rare cases (actually has happened to me with some games and other accessories), their usually low prices have been more expensive than some of the deals they've had in catalogs.


I also nearly kicked myself, in the catalog pricing God of War HD Collection is $54 as listed on here..... my local store priced it at $48 (from memory) on release, when i had already purchased it elsewhere for $55. I also recently saw that my local store had dropped the price down to $38 icon_eek.gif, in hindsight i wish i had waited (based on how infrequent i've been using the ps3 console in recent times).

I bought it full price at EB day one release ($54?), as of this post I haven't played it yet.
