EveryonePlays: GAME cracks 60,000+ signed petitions

PALGN Feature | With only a few days to go, we have a petition update for you.
Hi all,

Just a quick note.

GAME has emailed sample petitions to every incumbent and Shadow Attorney-General including the Home Affairs Minister and the Federal Attorney-General.

Stephen Fenech of the Daily Telegraph recently wrote the following article: Over 41,000 gamers petition attorneys-general for R18+ rating

The difference between now and when the article was written is that GAME has surpassed the 60,000 petition mark. At last count, we've hit 61,088 signed petitions.

I look forward to keeping everyone informed regarding how our politicians respond to a number of my questions.

And, of course, asking mums and dads across Australia to sign our petition, as it puts “People Power” at front and centre, before our elected representatives.

Also, don't forget to tell all your friends and together we will be able to protect the children from mature games.

Best Wishes,

i got an 80 year old lady to sign today. She was outraged that games could just pass as MA without being rated properly. (I work at a GAME store)

I finally signed it last weekend. Go me.

I was asked to sign it multiple times icon_confused.gif, of course i only signed it once and told them i had already signed it each time i was subsequently asked. The first occasion was during the launch week of the petition. I hope the list of 60,000 are not duplicate names.

An 80 year old lady - fantastic.

GAME staff have been instructed one signature per person.

I just wish that there was a fucking GAME store somewhere even remotely close to the CBD, or areas that I generally commute to. Who wants to forge my signature?

Yeah there's about a billion EB's in central Melbs but Game? nope, I think the closest is Glenferrie Rd, but that could be a Gametraders.

I wish there were more GAME stores too. Of course, here's a link from the everyoneplays site - http://www.game.com.au/findastore

There are some GAME stores in Melbourne. I know because we got media exposure in a number of local newspapers.

Same boat as Fetid and Karai (gonna... need... a... bigger... ah forget it). I live and work around the CBD, haven't even been near a GAME store for a while. Anyone going down who has already signed, feel free to use my name to sign again.

I hear you loud and clear. But as the petition numbers grows, it is important that ONE signature per person is being followed. 67,535 signed petitions as of 9/4.

Any way to sign from overseas? I'm an Aussie citizen if that helps. icon_smile.gif

Hi Lord Haart - Unfortunately, you can't sign from overseas (yet); however, thank you for asking.

That said, you can tell friends and family in Oz about the petition - we have a website (www.everyoneplays.org.au) where people can search for the nearest GAME store, and of course, a facebook page to keep informed. For example, latest petition count of 67,535.

Please let me know if you need more info.
