PALGN Weekly Releases - 22/03/10

PALGN Feature | Pick up your blade.
After the last batch of godly releases, there are even more superb titles on the way for this week. First up, taking a different approach than that of your traditional JRPG is Resonance of Fate on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Developed by tri-Ace, players follow a trio of adventures as they attempt to unravel the truth about Basel, the only livable place remaining on a devastated Earth. Featuring a battle system based entirely on gun play, Resonance of Fate is blasting its way into shelves this Thursday. The other game arriving from across the sea is BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger, also on Xbox 360 and PS3. If you can’t wait to get your hands on this fighter, check out PALGN’s competition for your chance to win one of five copies of the game (on the platform of your choice).

But now, let us unsheathe our blade, be ready to battle, and reveal the games of the week!

Pokemon HeartGold / SoulSilver

Platform(s): Nintendo DS
Release Date: Thursday 25th March
Genre: RPG
RRP: $69.95
Demo: N/A
PALGN links: Trailer

Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver reinvents two Game Boy classics – Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver – for the Nintendo DS. Players can relive treasured memories or simply catch them all over again. Starting in the Johto region with your choice of Totodile, Cyndaquil or Chikorita, HeartGold and SoulSilver feature updated graphics, sound and full touch-screen functionality. You can even choose a Pokemon to follow your character around on their adventure, just as Pikachu did in Pokemon Yellow. Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver both come bundled with a Pokewalker for taking your favourite pocket monster out on the go.

Red Steel 2

Platform(s): Wii
Release Date: Thursday 25th March
Genre: Action
RRP: $79.95 (Game), 99.95 (MotionPlus Bundle)
Demo: N/A
PALGN links: Trailer

Red Steel 2 hopes to be the ultimate combination of sword and gun fighting on the Nintendo Wii. Compatible only if the MotionPlus is plugged in, Ubisoft’s latest endeavour sports some impressive gameplay. Guns can be aimed with an astonishing degree of accuracy, while sword-fights are much more than a simple waggle-fest. The on-screen blade precisely follows your actions and even gauges the strength of the swing. If you haven’t jumped on the MotionPlus bandwagon yet, Red Steel 2 can be found bundled together with the device, in addition to the standalone game.

Wednesday 24th March:

How to Train Your Dragon (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, Nintendo DS)

I was going to pick up Resonance of Fate but after reading some mixed reviews I'm going to either a) wait for forum feedback/reviews, b) pick the game up cheap, or c) win that competition icon_smile.gif

BlazBlue is another title I want, but I'm not interested in picking it up on 360, rather PS3, unfortunately, my TE Sticks are for the former... icon_sad.gif
