PALGN Weekly Releases - 08/03/10

PALGN Feature | Finally.
After last week’s swag of epic releases, the next seven days are going to be just as fantastic and fabulous. After waiting a week while their Xbox 360 and PC brethren caused total and utter environmental destruction, PlayStation 3 owners can collect Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Those with Sony’s black box adorning their entertainment units are in for another treat, with the streets of Japan opening up for the next instalment in the renowned Yakuza series, Yakuza 3. Players can explore Okinawa and Tokyo over the course of 100 missions, while engaging in intense street brawls and discovering the highlights of Japanese culture.

Resident Evil 5 Golden Edition also launches on Xbox 360 and PS3 this week. The game comes packed with the original campaign and two additional episodes, Lost in Nightmares and Desperate Escape. PALGN’s reviews of the new chapters can be found here and here, respectively. Players can (literally) get out their skateboards for Tony Hawk: RIDE on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii, and find MadWorld, The Conduit and The House of the Dead: Overkill packed neatly into the economically priced and aptly titled Welcome to Violence Box Set on Wii.

But now, without further hesitation, queue epic battle music, breath-taking cinematic visuals and Leona Lewis for our release of the week.

You can stop fantasising, because the wait is over finally over. Final Fantasy XIII is arriving on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. One of the most loved and recognisable series in the history of videogames, this one has been years in the making. The trademark eye-popping cut-scenes, orchestral score and involving story will be evident from the outset. Players initially taking charge as Lightning, a talented female and former sergeant, as the colony world of Cacoon approaches an ominous destiny. Final Fantasy XIII features a new and improved battle system and over sixty hours of gameplay. While you wait for this one to arrive, be sure to check out the history of the franchise in PALGN’s Final Fantasy Series Link Part 1 and Part 2.

In addition to the standard game, a Final Fantasy XIII Collector's Edition is also available. The package contains a selection of music from the Final Fantasy XIII original soundtrack, a hardback book titled ‘The World of Final Fantasy XIII’, art prints and a unique decal.

I can't find this catalogue on the KMart website, is it state specific?

Also, underneath the image, it says 11 - 17 march, I can't wait 2 more days to save $3!

im actually tempted by the sonic collection. i know i've played them over and over again already, but having a portable iteration would make for a nice change from the xbox.

oh, yeah, and something called final fantasy ...

whee - Chaos Rising this week, GOW3, Dragon Age: Awakenings and C&C4 next week (if i can reconcile the whole "you must be online to play" DRM it's got - maybe i'll just DL a pirated version once i've bought it)

Bad Company 2 will be the last game I'll buy for a while, so hopefully it is really good online and doesn't get boring.

pfft Had FFXIII since Friday. about 15-20 hours into it (chapter 9) over the weekend. I like the changes to the series. But it's basically battle after battle, which is fun. Gran Pulse is next, some sort of freedom... and chocobos?

Grrr!! Stuck at stupid uni! I'll have to pickup FFXIII tomorrow morning and play it for a bit, before I have to go to uni again!

Just an FYI, I picked up FF at GAME Innaloo in Perth, they price matched Kmart's $82.

No price roundup for FFXIII? Still trying to decide whether to buy the 360 version now or wait until I get my PS3 later in the year, some comparisons have been worse than usual multiplatform titles. icon_sad.gif

I also picked up Yakuza 3 at EB (Warwick Perth) today, they accepted the Kmart price match of $72. Not sure why they are selling it a day early.
