LucasArts to release Monkey Island 2: Special Edition?

According to a report which surfaced on Kotaku today, it seems that after the success of The Secret of Monkey Island LucasArts may be hard at work on a special edition of Monkey Island 2.

Rumour has it that sources have stated that the game's announcement could come as early as next week's Game Developer's Conference (GDC). As with the first title's special edition, the special edition for Monkey Island 2 is said to contain revamped graphics and audio.

If the rumour proves to be true, this title could be set to enthrall even more Monkey Island fans, with talk that the title would make its way onto Sony's console this time - a glaring omission for the previous title. This means that the game would appear on the iPhone, PC, Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.

So what you're telling me is that Lucasarts not only have an island made of money, but they are making another one?

Please be true, the only reason I haven't gone back to replay Le Chuck's Revenge is that I was hoping for this announcement

hopefully they can do something cool with the ending given the ending of this one was made with sequel in mind. The following games werent created by Ron Gilbert and didnt continue from the end of this one

Please God let it be so. I purchased the Special Edition 5 times, once for myself and 4 gifts. Best $50 ever spent.
Hopefully they will release CMI on Steam soon, the best IMO.

Is there any hope, any at all, of them being released for Nintendo DS? I cannot believe they keep ignoring the DS for these releases. It would be freaking perfect for it.

Hm I might have to get it if it does come out on PS3.I've never been a fan of point and click games but I'm broadening my gaming interests and want to try a p&c on PS3.

I am definitely up for some MI2 loving if it's released.

Oh, and Curse of Monkey Island followed on from LeChuck's Revenge, that's why he's in the rollercoaster car at the start.
