FFXIII to be on three Xbox 360 DVDs

PALGN News | But only two disk swaps required.
In a reply to a question from gaming blog VG247, Square Enix has confirmed that Final Fantasy XIII will take up three Xbox 360 DVDs.

However, Square Enix has alleviated concerns of an annoying number of disks swaps by saying that “Players will only have to swap discs twice during their entire game”.

The highly-anticipated RPG is set to be released on 9 March 2010.

I'm actually really looking forward to the comparisons (eurogamer) to see what the technical differents are between the platforms. Should be a very interesting one.

Yep, as I have this feeling the PS3 will lose out in the comparison test....

i don't know about you, but i though 1997 was a pretty good year.
FFVII like miss Island_Wolf pointed out...a good year it was...
Not for everyone, I nearly lost my house in 97 to bushfires (my house is still scorched from that).

Dunno why people get upset about swapping discs, I guess people are just content to wallow in laziness and become morbidly obese.
I think it's more a time/perspective kind of thing.Because we are so used to not changing discs because we rarely have to, changing a dis now feels like step backwards.Changing discs is now like old technology.

Well that's the way I see it.

Disc swapping, whilst mildly annoying, isn't the real problem. It's the compressed video and audio on the 360 that ensures I will be picking this one up for PS3.
QFT. gears1+2 and its compressed to hell FMV's FTL.
Molehill out of a mountain. I have both Tekken 6 for both machines and the compression really only makes a slight difference on the 360. So that's a full BD of video vs. a full DVD. It's actually quite remarkable.

Even less of a problem with compressed audio.

What's gears got to do with it?
gears of war's FMV is compressed to all hell and looks rubbish. Fidelity matters.

but then I expect nothing less from PALGN's resident xbot icon_wink.gif

I guess it depends who you are. I grew up with swaping disks all the time at the PS1/PC pre-dvd era. So to me, it's really nostalgic. Also PC, swapping disk is part of installation of the game, it's still requires effort.

For PS1, I had more games that requires swapping disk than those that didn't. Swapping disks at vital moments do actually create an suspense. For example, Final Fantasy VIII, I had to swap a disk after Squall fell down from a very high level after being stabbed by a shard of ice and Rinoa was trying to reach out for Squall. And then swap disk screen came and I was like OMG, what just happened?!?

I just truly don't see why it is a huge deal, really, a bigger deal would be if FF13 really going to renew people's interest of FF since it was kinda "dead" after FFX or the fact DLC is planned for the game, I wanted the whole game dammit!. Most people who getting it on the 360 wouldn't care about swapping disk away, which btw, Lost Odyssey is my best JRPG game this gen and it's a 4 disk game icon_razz.gif

Become morbidly obese from not swapping discs? Nevermind the fact that they're playing video games.

Anyways, I thought FFXIII would have been at least 4 discs. I wonder how much they really compressed into those discs.
