Vanquish announced

PALGN News | New title on the way from Resident Evil creator.
Since going off to found Platinum Games - the development house which brought us both Bayonetta and Madworld - Resident Evil series creator Shinji Mikami has been seemingly quiet on the development front, but that looks all set to change with today's reveal of his upcoming title Vanquish.

Currently all that is known about the title is what is given away in its debut trailer. So far we know that the United States has been attacked and that a Master Chief wannabe is suited up and ready to take the fight back to the enemy.

At this time there is no word on which platforms the title will be arriving on, nor a release window for when we can expect to see the title in stores. Until more information is known, all we can do is check out the teaser trailer below and speculate on what the game will entail. Be sure to check back with PALGN as more information is revealed.

CGI trailers are so lame.

Anyone else get a P.N.03 vibe from the protagonist? Considering it's Mikami it's not that surprising I guess.

white sexy scifi armour? sure. Except's he's not jiggling his ass and there won't be no broken butterfly unlockable.

I want to see more of this

Just realised the in-helmet shots are very District 9-inspired.

Not necessarily a bad thing, methinks icon_smile.gif

Are you talking about the hologram displays? Those things have been in scifi for yeeeeears.

The concept looks good. I really liked Bayonetta. TBH Madworld was **** but they've redeemed themselves.

Hopefully it isn't too far into the future and has some realism to the world.

Nah nah, the way its actually shot - a close up of the characters face inside the helmet looking at holograms while having their eyes flicker around to different screens frantically. This was a large element during D9's ending sequences and added a raw edge to Wikus' actions. Seems the same set-up and tone are implemented or at least referenced in the way this trailer has set it up.

Also understandable, seeing as the trailer was primarily made by Logan, who made the MGS4 intro advertisements.

^ I'd have thought Iron Man would've also come up as inspiration.
did the same close up of the pilot's face, and even had the whole "Suiting up" robots that Tony Stark had. (which was, in itself, kinda reminiscent of the StarCraft 2 "Suiting Up" reveal trailer.)

otherwise, i'm with EC. as impressive as the CGI is, it's hard to get excited by something when we don't even know what sort of game it'll be.
FPS? - has a Halo/Mjolinir Armour vibe about it (and yes, i'm aware that Halo wasn't the first thing to use Power Armour.)
3PS? - could just as easily be some Gears of War style game.
could even be another DMC/Bayonetta style game.

i also agree with Matrix-cat, they should probably get rid of the ARS on the front of the suit. i'm sure it's got some catchy meaning, like Armoured Recon Suit or something, but it's still ARS, and that's amusing.
EDIT: Just watched it again, and it's "Augmented Reaction Suit". sounds like it might have Crysis-style powers to me - but again, way too early to say.

...Its not like they have many ways to show the holograms on the screen, so saying who it borrowed from is dumb.

But yeh D9 had a similar thing,
