PALGN Weekly Releases - 25/01/10

PALGN Feature | Fight for the lost.
This week is shaping up to be absolutely massive. The follow-up to one of the greatest role-playing games in recent history is set to power onto shelves across the nation in just a few days time. We suggest withdrawing from mainstream society for several nights and days to immerse yourself in this science fiction spectacle.

Mass Effect 2

Platform(s): Xbox 360, PC
Release Date: Thursday 28th January
Genre: RPG
RRP: $109.95
Demo: NA
PALGN links: Cinematic Trailer | Screenshots 1 | Screenshots 2 | Screenshots 3

Mass Effect 2 continues the story of Commander Shepard, a special forces soldier at the forefront of humanity’s expansion across space. With human colonies mysteriously disappearing across the cosmos, Shepard is called upon to confront the unknown threat. Gathering a squad of the galaxy’s strongest and deadliest operatives, Shepard embarks on what many believe to be a suicide mission.

Players can import their personalised Shepard from the first Mass Effect, with all decisions made in the previous game impacting on the new. BioWare has completely reworked Mass Effect 2, putting to rest all the criticisms of its predecessor. Blending role-playing and third-person action, Mass Effect 2 is shaping up as one of the most defining games of 2010.

This week's checklist:

Thursday 28th January:

Mass Effect 2 (Xbox 360, PC)

Coming next week: Dante's Inferno (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3), Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers (Wii), Tatsunoko vs Capcom (Wii).

Call me crazy but I'm looking Crystal Chronicles: Crystal Bearers.

Man ANOTHER week with nothing I'm interested in.Bring on Dante's Inferno and later Heavy Rain.

At least buying no more than one game a fortnight has been very easy so far.

I'm going to be jumping up and down in the queue for Mass Effect 2.

Do I save my money for the mass of games coming in future weeks, do I grab some of the games I've missed out on recently or do I happily cough up any and all funds (and I'm willing, I can tell you) in my bank account just to play Mass Effect 2 on its release day? Hmm, decisions.

I am surprised that Bioware have released ME2 so close to DA:O and all of it's DLC, I am still trying to get through DA:O and with Awakening coming out in March it will be a while before I think of moving on to another RPG.

MASS EFFECT 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then Dante's Inferno next week. It's win this year already.
Video games publishers are evil. They just assume you have an unlimited supply of money and all the time in the world icon_sad.gif

I had every intention of buying Mass Effect 2 this week, but I've decided against it. I really want to finish the first one, but I've left it for too long and now I can't remember half the crap that I've done (I have a dreadful memory).

Screw ME2 icon_razz.gif

I'm not much of a Sci-Fi fan so the ME series doesn't interest me that much.Slicing demons up in Hell on the other hand...

I watched a few vids before the first one came out and it did look like a good game with a goody story. In fact from the trailer I saw it looked like it was going to have a brilliant story.

I guess not having a 360 is also part of it.Though if Alan Wake is as good as it look then I will probably buy a 360 and hey, I might by ME and love it.I mean I played the PS3 demo of Bioshock but didn't think "I HAVE to get this game" and didn't get it till a few months ago and thought it was a rather brilliant game.

But if I get a 360 I will definitely get Gears before I even think of getting ME icon_razz.gif

I'm sorry to say, but you are missing out Gamesta. ME is a fantastic and different experience. ME2 is looking like an absolute gem.

But rest easy, Geoff K from GametTrailers has let slip then a PS3 version is a matter of when instead of if. He claims that EA can't talk about the PS3 version...right now anyway. Probably because it's under some sort of exclusive window. So I dare say it will be on the PS3 by the years end. Probably exactly the same way Bioshock happened.

You'd think ME1 will be as well if they did do that. 1 comes before 2 right?

Just play it on pc gamesta?

Well for starters I have a crap computer that can barely play Sims 3 and secondly I HATE gaming on PC unless it's something simple like a flash game that requires mouse only or something like Worms.

In regards to missing out, the way I see it is if I don't know what I'm missing out on then it doesn't matter how great it is.If it's the greatest game ever made and I don't know it then it doesn't matter how good it is.

As for ME 1 coming out on PS3 because it's likely the PS3 will see ME2, PS3 got Condemned 2 even thouyh it never got the first one.Unless they fit them both onto one Blu-Ray... hm.....

I'm almost positive the trilogy will end up on the PS3 in one form or another. It's EA. Gaming pimps.

I don't think i'll get Mass Effect 1 or Bioshock 1 finished in time... meh

I'll be looking for ME2 today. Hopefully someone is selling it a day early. I'll post it here if I get it.
