More God of War to come

PALGN News | News at 11.
We all know that Sony Santa Monica's God of War III is just around the corner, with its expected March release date looming ever closer. We also know that the aforementioned title is supposed to represent the end of a trilogy. But does that mean that God of War III will be the final entry in the blockbuster franchise? Banish the thought to Hades.

John Hight, Director of Product Development on the title, speaking with Gamervision, has revealed that God of War III "is not the end of God of War", although it "is definitely the end of the trilogy". Hight added that Sony will "continue to do God of War games" and "be very careful about what [they] do", suggesting that they are keen to not see the series "ruined or polluted".

All in all, this news comes as very little surprise, given the upward trajectory of the series in terms of its critical and commercial success. PALGN will have more on God of War III, as the PS3-exclusive approaches release.

As long as they don't 'End the Trilogy' with an annoying cliffhanger ending like Halo 3 did. And then make 2 new god of war games that don't star Kratos and never answer the ending at all.

Perhaps they could make a move from Kratos then and Greek mythology, to Egyptian or Norse, that would be pretty cool.

Because I don't think they could do much more with Kratos after this, other than a prequel that is prior to him serving Ares. Because really, I think another one after GOW3 is going to saturate this top quality adventure game.

Phew, I was worried for a second.

But I'm concerned they'll not going to make a Halo 4.

How about they just use Kratos in Egyptian mythology. He could swing around his 'chains of Anubis'.

I love the series and all types of ancient mythology so this is brilliant news!

Does anyone remember the ORIGINAL God of War mentioning Kratos Brother and their upbringing or something?

There was nothing ever expanded on that...

I've been waiting with baited breath for Sony to announce a co-op two player mode with Kratos' vengeful brother, who, in the spirit of fan-fiction, I have named Thanatos. Sadly, it looks like they abandoned that plot thread...

I'm keen for them to expand on that video they had in God of War 1 with the modern military finding the skeleton of Cronos and Pandora's Temple. That would be an awesome concept to work with!
