This Week's Releases - 05/10/09

PALGN Feature | Slam dunking and sabre slashing.
This week, it's all about supremacy on the basketball court as two of the sports biggest videogames battle it out. Fans are spoilt for choice, with 2K Sports' NBA 2K10 and Electronic Arts' NBA Live 10 scheduled for release within days. NBA 2K10 is aiming to deliver a improved experience over its predecessor with updated graphics and new gameplay elements (our recent preview of the game can be read here). Meanwhile, player movement has been overhauled in NBA Live 10, promising accessibility for both casual and advanced users alike. NBA 2K10 will be available this week on Xbox 360, PS3 and PS2, and NBA Live 10 on Xbox 360 and PS3.

Next, the animated series Star Wars The Clone Wars earns its own videogame adaptation in the aptly titled Republic Heroes. Players can assume the role of Clone Troopers and Jedi Knights such as Anakin Skywalker and Mace Windu in the battle against the Separatist's army of automations. Star Wars The Clone Wars Republic Heroes invades store shelves on Wednesday on Xbox 360, PS3, PSP, Wii and PC. The demo is downloaded from Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.

Finally, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is shipping to stores on Thursday. The series returns with Ryu Hayabusa journeying across the globe to reclaim the stolen Demon Statute and prevent the resurrection of the evil Archfiend. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 features a number of new playable characters, including Ayane from Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword's Momiji. In addition, there are new enemies and special missions to complete in online co-op. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 can be found only on PlayStation 3.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 this week is cool,

But damn! Next week will be a killer to the wallet, Uncharted 2 (is going to be my GoTY), Operation Flashpoint (I am hoping this is good and fills the gap until the next GRAW arrives), Fallout 3 GoTY (What can I say, all that DLC, wooohooo!!!) and Brutal Legend (This caught me by surprise, I played the demo over at my mates place)

Anyone got 2K10?

is it just me, or is calling something "2K10" the biggest redundancy since "Final Fantasy 2"?

what is the point of the K?
it doesn't abbreviate anything, since 2K10 is the same length as simply saying 2010.

EDIT: ah, call me thick. i didn't realise these games were made by 2K Games.
now it makes sense.

it's still retarded, but at least there's some small modicum of reason.
