The fifth instalment of the Guitar Hero series rocks its way onto Xbox 360, PS3, PS2 and Wii from Wednesday. Guitar Hero 5 promises tracks from the Beastie Boys, Coldplay, David Bowie and Wolfmother, and may be purchased as a standalone game or bundled with the guitar controller. Also hitting the streets is the next SingStar instalment for PS2 and PS3, SingStar Motown, including the likes of the Supremes, Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder.
Next up is Scribblenauts on Nintendo DS. In the game, players must help Maxwell find the Starite in each level by jotting down the word of an object that can be used reach the goal. Objects react as they do in the real world, meaning there are several ways to solve each puzzle. With a total of 220 challenges to decipher, Scribblenauts will keep your brain occupied for some time to come. Our most recent preview of the game can be found here.
Next up, two of the most iconic racing games battle it out for supremacy. First, Need for Speed SHIFT takes a new direction, giving players a realistic view of racetrack with what Electronic Arts is calling ‘perception based G-Forces’ and a ‘brutally disorientating crash dynamic’. Next is Codemasters' off-road racer Colin McRae: Dirt 2. With a wide selection of rally cars and off-road vehicles, the game promises a new breed of dirt racing with updated race types, locations and ‘benchmark tech’. Need for Speed SHIFT can be found on Xbox 360, PS3, PSP and PC, and Colin McRae: Dirt 2 on Xbox 360, PS3, PSP and Wii.
After Final Fantasy and Soulcalibur a few weeks ago, the happy news continues for PlayStation Portable fans with two games being released, I-L2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey and MotorStorm Artic Edge. PC owners also have two titles the have been residing on closes for some time, Red Faction: Guerrilla and Resident Evil 5. Finally, World War II aerial combat comes to life in the Heroes Over Europe on Xbox, PS3 and PC (check back for our review of the game shortly).
