Smells like Guitar Hero

PALGN News | Here he is now, entertain him.
In news that may equally please and infuriate Nirvana fans, Activision has officially revealed that the likeness of Kurt Cobain will be used in Guitar Hero 5 for the songs ’Smells Like Teen Spirit’ and a previously unreleased live version of ’Lithium’.

Not surprisingly, this is the first time Kurt Cobain and his cardigan have featured in a videogame, and according to Activision’s Vice President of Music Affairs, Tim Riley, it’s also “the first time the original recording of ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ has ever been licensed in an entertainment property”. Cobain joins a host of other musician likenesses prepared for in Guitar Hero 5, including Garbage's Shirley Manson and the also-deceased Johnny Cash. See the attached picture and cast your verdict.

its ok, when you're a guitar hero you become shiny and gain the ability to hold guitars up without the use of a strap.

The Mega64 podcast discussion about this was rather hilarious, with Garret looking like he was about to break in to tears.

Shawn: "I just kept zooming in, zooming in, and suddenly though 'Oh crap, he's about to do the cry face!'"

Garret: "...This is a ****... this just a total sadness, a total **** sadness..."

Great times.

How do it know well that what is says?

i started listening to Nirvana again, a day before this announcement was posted.

The grunge era was what defined the 90s.. grunge music was so rebellious, confused, conflicting and just lacked structure, that is why it is so awesome.

I dunno about the lacking structure bit, particularly for Nirvana. Kurt once said he tried to write songs like the beatles with the verse chorus verse structure.

It should be known that Smells Like Teen Spirit was in a SingStar game way before GH5.

Yeah, Grunge was all those things except for the structure comment, you just described Punk. Grunge was Punk with a purpose.

Grunge was punk without passionate anger. It was an anti-establishment sentiment, but instead of fighting the system, it was more about trying to exclude yourself from it.
