Australian sales charts, week ending 16/08/09

PALGN News | American football hits the charts.
This will come as quite a shock to absolutely nobody - Wii Sports Resort is still the top selling game in Australia for the fourth consecutive week. Equally unsurprising is the game in second place - the absolutely unstoppable Wii Fit, obviously. The PlayStation 3 edition of Ashes Cricket 2009 is up a spot as it moves into third place, riding a wave of momentum as the Ashes reaches its climax. As a result, the usually reliable Wii Play dropped a slot, closing the week in fourth place. Ashes Cricket 2009 on the Xbox 360 makes its debut in fifth place.

It wouldn't be the charts without Mario Kart Wii, slipping slightly to a still-respectable sixth place finish. The PC is represented in the all-format top ten in the shape of The Sims 3, yet another game suffering a lower position thanks to the Ashes. Brain Training, on the other hand, is doing quite well for itself, having actually gained a spot to close the week in eighth, despite being as old as dirt. Nine and ten are occupied by the yearly grid-iron game that is Madden NFL 2009, with the PS3 edition doing slightly better than the Xbox 360 one.

The charts are updated weekly and are provided by those wonderful people at GfK.

I'm surprised how well ps3 versions do in aus. In America its always the 360 outselling the ps3. But yeah I guess Sony has a stronger hold on Europe where as 360 dominates America.

the images are sourced from offsite, seems that for whatever reason, the old charts are being hosted again, instead of the new ones.
