Activision posts Q2 profits

PALGN News | Starcraft II for a 2010 release?
Yahoo has reported Activision Blizzard exceeded sales expectations, despite the sessional slowdown.

Over the second quarter, Activision said it earned $195 million in the three month period, with total revenue coming in at $1.04 billion. Games such as Prototype and World of Warcraft helped business, bringing total adjusted sales to $801 million by the end of the quarter.

With a strong upcoming release schedule of franchise titles, Activision CEO Bobby Kotick said it was a killer lineup. Although Modern Warfare 2 and Guitar Hero 5 are on the way, Activision has delayed Starcraft II. Along with another unnamed sci-fi first-person game, Starcraft II moves into a 2010 release. The delay comes as more time is needed to develop the new Battle.net, rather than the game itself.

Nor was the Warcraft Adventure starring Thrall. Blizzard seem to have enough good oversight to kill bad games before they get released.
