GAME STARS LIVE: In pictures

PALGN News | Pictures good, words bad.
Halo 2, queuing, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, queuing, Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, queuing, Pikmin 2, queuing. All terribly fun whilst it lasted, even if PALGN didn't quite achieve it's ambition of getting to test every one of the 80-odd games on display at Game Stars Live this year. But then there's always memories, forever immortalised in the pictures you see below. So with the London event closing it's doors for another year yesterday, now seems an ideal time to self-indulgently subject readers to PALGN's snaps of the event.

______________
______________^ This year's E3 demonstration of Halo 2 was played repeatedly
______________to the hundreds who queued patiently...

______________
______________^ ...to be allowed in here. The queue nearest to the camera
______________was to be the red team, those further away played blue. These
______________queues doubled in size at least, with some waiting four hours.

______________
______________^ A familiar friend.

______________
______________
______________^ Nintendo opted for a more light-hearted approach with a
______________seaside-themed exhibition area.

______________
______________^ Inside, one of the most bizarre props at the show was
______________Nintendo's helter-skelter. Contrary to what the press
______________release had said, it wasn't functioning.

______________
______________^ The 'Animal Crossing' stand was doing business however, though
______________not quite as impressively as...

______________
______________^ ...the area dedicated to Donkey Konga, which handily offered
______________professional bongo-drumming lessons and a tournament.

______________
______________^ EA's own display area was typically opulent...

______________
______________^ ...even going so far as to offer golf lessons.

______________
______________^ Other publishers also splashed out on displays, with props
______________ranging from humungous...

______________
______________^ ...to downright exorbitant.

______________
______________^ In comparison, certain stands were somewhat more humbly
______________assembled.

______________
______________
______________^ Ubisoft's Prince was one of the event's biggest draws...

______________
______________^ ...as was the Pro Evolution Soccer 4 tournament on Konami's
______________stand, where PALGN was robbed in the semi-finals.

______________
______________^ A trio of professionals go about their daily job with skill
______________and expertise.

______________
______________^ A blast on OutRun 2 proved the ideal climax to a busy week.

Hell, I wish Australia had a show on that scale. Looked to be big show indeed, though a fraction of the budget set aside for E3 was devoted to the stands (I heard EA spent millions on their E3 screens, millions).
