SEGA to relaunch MJ's Moonwalker?

PALGN News | A Bad idea? Should they just Beat It?
According to Playstation Lifestyle, SEGA has expressed interest in relaunching the cult videogame, Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker, presumably for download on current consoles.

Belgian website, 9lives, tastefully contacted SEGA following Jackson’s untimely death about whether the gaming company was considering relaunching the title, with SEGA responding that they were interested in the idea, but that it wasn’t that easy to do. We’re not exactly sure what that answer means, but it probably has to do with the cost and viability of updating a cult game in HD, and the licensing arrangements that would have to be arranged with Jackson’s estate.

Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker was released in 1990 on the SEGA Master System and Mega Drive, and was well received by fans and most critics. The game featured Michael using various dance-related skills to save kidnapped children from an evil person called Mr Big. Out of respect, we will not be making any comment about the possible irony of that plot. Allegedly.

Why not? Everyone else is cashing in on the resurgence of interest in all things Jackson.

I must admit I saw this coming, but still, it will be pretty sweet to have.

Hell yes - this is a good game.

I was actually hoping for this anyway before his death as though I never owned it myself I have heard some pretty good things about this game in of itself as well as it being quite nuts with some of the attacks that you can pull off.

I'd buy it.

Id be happy if they released the original through PSN / XBL / VC. Why not start there?

Depends on which version they release. I liked both, but I really preferred the arcade version. That pseudo 3D looked pretty cool at the time.

Wow, what a great way to benefit financially from the guy's death. Can't wait for the new Greatest Hits cd with a few unreleased tracks on it as well, just to disrespect his memory even more (and people ******* about others telling jokes? Come on).

Sin - I'm not sure what world you live in, but I live in a world where everyone tries to benefit from everything and it's up to the market to determine what the morale high-ground is.

MJ himself benefitted from flogging everything he could to the public, including this game. So I don't see that people cashing in on his death as being particularly disrespectful.

You can't make money off your fans and then not expect others to make money off of you. It's Capitalism, baby.
