Belgian website, 9lives, tastefully contacted SEGA following Jackson’s untimely death about whether the gaming company was considering relaunching the title, with SEGA responding that they were interested in the idea, but that it wasn’t that easy to do. We’re not exactly sure what that answer means, but it probably has to do with the cost and viability of updating a cult game in HD, and the licensing arrangements that would have to be arranged with Jackson’s estate.
Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker was released in 1990 on the SEGA Master System and Mega Drive, and was well received by fans and most critics. The game featured Michael using various dance-related skills to save kidnapped children from an evil person called Mr Big.
