New game by Square-Enix

PALGN News | To be announced in July.

Square Enix recently put up a new website for an upcoming game.

Simply titled 'NEW GAME' at the moment, the site shows a hand drawn image of a countryside with a large number ‘4’ on it. Whether this is an entirely new IP or the fourth sequel to some Square Enix franchise we will find out as soon as the countdown meter on the site hits zero - which should happen in the first week of July.

The Final Fantasy franchise is getting all the attention, which is evident by the countless spin offs and sequels. However, we do have some interesting non Final Fantasy games to look forward to, such as the 3rd Birthday, Blood of Bahamut, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 days and Dragon Quest IX, to mention a few.

Hmm yet another countdown clock from another of my favourite gaming companies, I'm interested to see what game it will be. Is the 8-bit music playing on the website familiar to anyone? It seems very 8-bit Final Fantasyish but is there any of the Final Fantasy series that are up to their 4th installment?

The Four Warriors of Light has been trademarked by Square Enix. Given that the original Final Fantasy featured the four light warriors, it could be a sequel to that?

Something regarding the Four Warriors of Light would be awesome. If that is the case, I wonder another successful Garland villain will make an appearance.

"Blood of Bahamut"-Isn't Bahamut one of the Aeons from Final Fantasy? Or is this game still something completely different?

Either way I'm not very interested in this, when it comes to Square Enix I've only ever played the Final Fantasy games, and Terrangima =) (Well, that was just Enix back then)

Perhaps if the countdown were on the Game Arts site, and consider there WAS a countdown on their site in April for Grandia Online.

Well, it's Amano's artstyle if that helps any. I doubt Amano would go for Grandia 4. He normally does Final Fantasy artwork.

So I'm expecting something FF related. New tactics game, even though the number would be out of sync? FFT, FFTA, FFTA2.. FF4?

FF IV remake sounds most likely though, but who knows.
