David Reeves retires from Sony

PALGN News | Andrew House taking over as head of Sony Europe.
Sony Europe president David Reeves has announced that he will be retiring at the end of the month, with former chief marketing officer Andrew House taking the position.

"David’s contribution in firmly establishing the PlayStation brand and expanding the business in Europe/PAL territories in his 14 year tenure at SCEE is immeasurable," said Kaz Hirai, Sony boss person. "I would like to express my sincere gratitude to David for the many accomplishments he made to the to the PlayStation business and wish him the best luck in his future endeavours."

The man taking over the head position, House, joined Sony in 1990, where five years later he was assigned to the Marketing and Communications division of SCEI. Making a large contribution in establishing the original Sony PlayStation and its titles, House was then promoted to Vice President of Marketing at Sony America. There he led the company’s advertising efforts in the North American market, expanding the PlayStation brand and leading market strategies into the launch of the PlayStation 2 and PSP businesses.

Moving from his successes from the PlayStation name, House was appointed Chief Marketing Officer of Sony Corporation in 2005, focusing on building brand awareness globally across all of Sony’s businesses.

"I’m very happy to welcome Andrew back to the PlayStation business and to work closely with him again," said Hirai of House.

Speaking directly, House was just as positive, saying that he is "delighted to return to the PlayStation fold and excited to take on this new challenge. I believe there is huge potential for further growth of our business in the Europe/PAL countries and regions, particularly in the area of networked entertainment. I’m looking forward to working with everyone at SCEE and with other groups in Sony to help achieve this potential."
