Australian sales charts, week ending 10/03/09

PALGN News | Has Wii Fit taken back first place?
Surprisingly, Microsoft's Xbox 360 RTS Halo Wars has done the unthinkable, managing to hold onto first place for the second week in a row. Of course, chart kingpin, Wii Fit is knocking on its doorstep in second place, just waiting to take back its rightful position. PS3 shooter Killzone 2 takes the third place on the podium, slipping slightly from last week's impressive debut. Fourth place sees a brand new PC entry in the form of Empire: Total War, continuing the series' past success in the charts. Mario Kart Wii managed to arrest its download slide, moving up a slot to end the week in fifth.

It's a familiar face making another re-entry in sixth place, with Super Smash Bros. Brawl reminding everybody that first party Wii games don't stop selling. Ever. The Wii Guitar Hero World Tour super bundle is in seventh place, making it three in a row for Nintendo. The PS3 version of Street Fighter IV is still kicking around in eighth position, despite the fact the Xbox 360 incarnation is gone from the all format top ten. At nine lies the Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection on the PS3, slipping slightly from last week, while the tenth slot is occupied by another familiar Wii name - Super Mario Galaxy.

The charts are updated weekly and are provided by those wonderful people at GfK.

Is it true that people are buying the 360 with free Halo wars and then taking it back for a refund/discount on the machine?

Probably, or trading it in for something they'd prefer.

Killzone 2's drop to 3 is quite unexpected. Practically everywhere else in the world, at least Europe, Killzone 2 is still at number 1.
