Australian sales charts, week ending 22/02/09

PALGN News | Street Fighter takes it to Nintendo.

A new challenger has entered the arena, in the form of Capcom's eagerly awaited nostalgic beat 'em up, Street Fighter IV. Surprisingly, it was the PlayStation 3 version that took the top honours, with the Xbox 360 version left languishing down in third place. Of course, Nintendo's Wii Fit is sandwiched right between them in second place, and will be probably be back at the top next week if history is anything to go by. A new PC challenger in the form of real-time strategy game Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II has surfaced in fourth place, while one of the chart stalwarts, Mario Kart Wii, managed to slip four slots to close the week in fifth position.

There's yet another rather refreshing new entry in sixth place, with scary Wii shooter House of the Dead: Overkill making its rather gruesome presence felt. Of course, right behind it are two resident chart veterans. There's the DS smash hit Brain Training at seven, with the Wii remote - bundled with Wii Play, of course - behind it in eighth place. The only remaining version of F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin in the charts is the Xbox 360 incarnation at ninth - the PS3 and PC versions are gone after just one week. Ouch. Closing out the charts in tenth place is the reappearance of the Guitar Hero World Tour super bundle for the Wii.

Its about damn time!!!! wooot. Its interesting ps3 version beat the xbox 360 version in sales.

Good to see DoW II up there, should have a vibrant multiplayer community then

.

Unsurprised at how much SFIV sold and the hardware choice on account of the 360's crappy D-pad.

Though I am surprised House of the Dead sold much higher than I anticipated.

Yea HOTD has done really done considering all the hardcore gamers own PS360's and never buy games for their dust covered Wii's.

So how many copies is that estimated then? Over 10k?

So true, that's why I got (well will get as soon as my pre-order comes in) the PS3 version.

As for HOTD: Overkill, OMFG best rail shooter ever and the hand cannons kick ass

. If you have a wii and like rail shooter IMO it's a must buy! Just be prepared for some pretty **** up stuff in it though

I read that the UK is I think the only place where SFIV is doing better on the 360.

Ahhhh Street Fighter. I wonder if the trend will continue till next week (since everywhere I've looked its practically sold out; hurry up with those shipments Capcom!).
