Konami picks up Saw game

PALGN News | Out later this year.
Variety has reported that Japanese publisher Konami has picked up the rights to the first game based on the Saw series of rather scary horror flicks.

The game was originally the property of Brash Entertainment, but fell into development hell when the publisher went bust in November last year. Film studio Lionsgate took ownership of the rights to the game, but have since agreed to licence the game to Konami.

Zombie Studios - of America's Army and Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever fame - will be developing the game, which is believed to be mostly completed anyway.

The game is due for a release in conjunction with the cinematic debut of the sixth Saw film later this year.

I'm surprised there hasn't been a game yet.

Should be for the Wii with loads of Mini Game Puzzles.

hmm... even though I am a fan of Saw i don't see this really working. But hey, its Konami, they can do anything!

The only reason why this wouldnt work is because the ESRB would pretty much ruin anything that would make this a solid "SAW" game.

Well, if this happens, then we will just download the game via BitTorrent. I may have a very slow connection (512k down, 128k up) but I don't even give a damn if it takes a couple of days to download completely.

I am already seeing this happening with Splatterhouse. I read in a magazine that the game lacks a health bar, so if Rick takes any damage, you would actually see a part of his flesh ripped out of him, to the point where he is walking around as a skeleton. Do not be surprised if the OFLC slaps this one with a RC rating.

hahaha, this wouldnt make a very good game, not to mention there is absolutely NO WAY the classifaction clowns will allow this game.

shoot a man, stab him to death, any quick death is alright by me, but a game about torture, I'll be glad when it's refused classification.

You mean like just then when you were allowed to voice your disgust at the classification system in Australia.

Wow, and here I was thinking that is freedom of speech.
