Street Fighter IV collector's edition detailed

PALGN News | Big fox, figurines, anime film, etc.
As is the popular trend for games these days, Capcom is planning on releasing a collector's edition of their highly anticipated punching and kicking game, Street Fighter IV.

Chun-Li will be on the cover of a nice big collector's edition's box. Included in said box will be a feature length film (of the anime variety, of course), exclusive downloadable content of some description and strategy guides, covering the skills of Rufus, Viper, Abel and El Fuerte.

Also included in the box will be some figurines - Ryu and Crimson Viper - posed as if they were battling it out on the classic Chinese street stage.

This package have been confirmed to be available in Australia and Europe for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versionf of Street Fighter IV when it is released on the 20th of February, which is nice.

My Stealth boat with a cassette tape deck! Yeah baby!

Actually I wonder if the PS3 blu-ray version of the anime will be region locked. I'll have to import the PS3 version if it is, since I have a Region A PS3. 'x'

And I wonder how the 360 version will do the anime. I reckon it'll be an Xbox 360 game disc, so that it can have HD video. It would suck if it was just a regular DVD with standard def video. bleh....

I hope it's free like POP Collectors Edition.

Would be nice, but I highly doubt it. Its a pretty big title and there is alot of extra's in the pack, so probably be the standard $20 extra.

If SFIV comes to PC, it'll be a while after the console release.

That's a decent pack actually, looks like I'll be getting the 360 version. Though I'll probably also fork out for a HORI arcade stick also.

It's already been announced for PC if I remember correctly although it is indeed coming out a while after the console release.

No this one has been made specifically for the game according to all the articles floating around. So it should be a brand new film.

How Hi-Def does anime need to be?
Last time I checked, they don't draw pores on skin in anime...

It's kind of like ADSL 2. Once you've experienced it you kind of feel a bit sad when you have to use someone elses ADSL 1 connection and everything loads slower. Once you start watching 720P anime and everything is really crisp and clean with minimal to no compression artifacts during fast moving scenes (trust me - it doesn't matter how much how much bitrate you throw at standard def MPEG2 video during a complex scene. It'll still look poo and blocky, unless the scene is softened and made complex with picture filters), you'll really appreciate that MPEG4 doesn't have a maximum bitrate restriction of 10.8Mbs/s (sorry for a being a geek - lapzod will appreciate this info - we both experienced this limitation in the DVD standard a few months ago at work).

Think of it this way: If you had the choice of a high def and standard def version of the anime to buy, and they both cost the same price, which would you prefer to have? icon_wink.gif

^^ Point taken...
Mind you I'll have to see for myself before I believe ya! icon_wink.gif

However, I reckon the box set is likely to be a standard DVD in both console versions, so all they have to do is slip in the different game into the different packaging and not have to worry about burning different format video discs...
Well if my lazy a$$ was in charge, that's the way I'd be doing it!!
