I'm gonna do my gaming shopping on Boxing Day, when the real bargains start.

I recommend people check out EB games sales, crazy, Warcraft 3 battlechest $40, Rainbow 6 vegas 2, $50.
Actually, the EB Games sale is a bit meh. Most of those prices I've seen before at other retailers. There are a few exceptions, but I certainly wouldn't call it "crazy."

I wish they'd change this page so we can filter by console, like we can do on the release list page.

I wish people would stop complaining about the bargain list as there is nothing wrong with the layout as the bargains are listed by store so it makes it easier to know where to go

I don't have a problem with it being listed by store, I'd just like to be able to only list the consoles I have

R6 Vegas 2 was $40 earlier in the year at Toys R Us. There isnt anything exceptional in the EB Games sale but Ill be getting Gears of War finally as its $30.

Try using the spreadsheet (now that I've updated it). I have it sorted by console/game/price, so I can easily locate the cheapest price for a given game per console, but you can sort by shop if you prefer, or by price or whatever you like.

I've talked my mate out of buying a Ps3 and into an Xbox 360. I actually thought the Ps3 would pick up a lot of steam but when it comes to games the 360 is unstoppable this gen, it might end up being my favourite games consoles ever aswell cuz I can't remember the last time I played so many quality games in such a short time.

Anyways can anyone confirm that the deal at GAME is the best one to get. Basically a 60 gig PRO console (I think they have HDMI slots now), which comes with wireless controller (basically everything the 20 gigs used to come with) but it has Kung Fu Panda and Lego Indiana Jones + a choice between Gears of War 2 or Fable 2 for like $399? This is one of the best deals i've seen cuz of the value for money plus a choice between 2 very recent games that are actually both pretty good. Naturally he's getting Gears of War 2 and he's gonna swap those other 2 pieces of trash for some cash towards Left 4 Dead.

If anyone has seen a better deal or the same deal for cheaper please post.

Also i'm looking at buying a Japanese 360 Arcade and was planning on using my 20gig Hdd in that (really don't need another one). Is this gonna cause problems? I know it won't but who knows nowadays with all the rorts. Also i';m buying from Play-Asia but if someone knows of a significantly cheaper place then again, posty.

Nowhere as that deal for cheaper. The only one that comes close is JB's deal which is the same thing except for $449 you get Brothers in Arms and Rainbow six Vegas 2 instead of Gears or Fable.
^ yea those were the two options but Rainbow Six and Vegas 2 are a little old now and if he gets bored of Gears (he won't, he'll hang on to it) he can swap it for a little more cash. Also I told him to lend me the two pieces of trash cuz I do actually wanna try them. Looking at gamerankings they're both around the 78% mark so they must be pretty good actually (Nut's & Bolts is also around 78%), I'm interesed in Lego indy but i'm wondering what Kung Fu Panda has done to warrant such a high rating.

Anyways these deals are awesome.

I've spoken to both Luke and Jeremy about improving the presentation of Bargains over the last few months. Sadly, things keep getting in the way. It's not a high priority right now, but I am certainly more than happy for Namarrgon to keep updating his spreadsheet, so long as he gives credit PALGN which he has been doing. icon_wink.gif

Alone, I'm limited to the layout set up by Brendan a few years ago, though I've done bits and pieces to improve the list and make it friendlier to use. This includes putting console / console bundles at the top, followed by accessory packs. After this, all games are alphabetised so it's easy to find a specific game under the store headlines.

I generally keep a consistent format for stores as well. In the new parts, I list Target, Kmart and Big W first, followed by JB Hi-Fi and any other stores that have new specials. In the "previously listed bargains" section, JB Hi-Fi is usually on top, while EB Games are down the bottom. Due to the nature of the list, it is difficult to keep consistency, throughout the week I'll usually update with new stores etc, and then you've got your multiple week sales at Big W and Kmart etc.

As I always stress though, we welcome feedback no matter how bad or good it is - preferably make sure it constructive criticism, that way we know the specific areas we can improve in.

ugh the boot's 360 quest
It depends what you're/he's after really. The Target and Big W bundles are the best in terms of price, but you only get the two pack in games (LEGO Indy and Kung Fu Panda). The GAME deal is certainly good, but if you don't like Fable 2 or Gears of War 2 then it might not be worth it. I know people that have gone and paid the extra $40 so they can pick out a game they actually want. Personally, I'd probably go with the GAME Gears/Fable deal. I probably pick up Fable II, and if I didn't like it, I would trade the game in and get something I prefer.

Shop around, and eventually they'll find the deal that suits them.

The Rock Band Bundle for $219 at Target seems like pretty good value. However I had a look at their online catalogue just to confirm it included the game (as JB's bundle doesn't). The online catalogue only states it is for Wii, PS2 and PS3. Does anyone know what the go is here?

Also, is Rock Band or GHWT the better option?

Cheers.

Well my mate ended up getting the Pro bundle from GAME at $399, they price matched Left 4 Dead so all up he paid $478 so not too bad but still close to $500 is still a hefty amount. Also that Kung Fu Panda and Lego Indy are basically two games in one case and it says 'NOT FOR RESALE' so you can't actually trade those games in at all. He wanted GEOW2 so it worked out pretty good.

He set it up last night and we played some Left 4 Dead which was going great. Sorry Katana not sure why it was lagging when you logged on but it did only start once you joined. Who knows?

Also I noticed the game will find a dedicated server when you do an online campaign. Is this the case with all 360 games because I haven't noticed it. I thought if someone creates a game or a lobby it's hosted from their end not Microsoft's or whever dev/publisher that put the game out. Can anyone confirm? Anyways don't like the dedicated server thing.

Also does anyone know if you can buy 60 gig hdd's seperate? I don't really need 120. Basically my 20 gig is enuff I just can't fit 2 games on the hdd so i'm thinking about 60 gig if the price is right.
^ Apparently EB will take trade ins of the just the disc alone - so provided the discs don't have "Not for Resale" on them too, trade them there.

Well yes you can buy the 60gb seperately but it is quite expensive @ $149.95 as it is bundled with a wired headset and 3 months of live access.

Obs is correct, you can trade both of Lego Indy and Kung Fu Panda into EB as discs only, but it's not really worth it to do that as they are now worth less then $10 each trade in due to being bundled with the Pro and Elite consoles.

Ugh, not all games have dedicated servers compared to the Microsoft ones. I'm sure only the EA Published titles have their own dedicated servers and L4D is published by EA.

Updated to include Toys R Us and Myer bargains.

Also, I'd like to apologise for being a tad slow with updates. Some of you may have noticed Bargains has been going up later than usual. This is because I've had other responsibilities to take care of, but I will make efforts to do these faster over December.

I'm always always torn about the wii. Whenever I go to neogaf now, there's this stupid ad up abotu JB hifi's promo for wii... $369? The avid videogame fan (as well as uber nintendo fanboy ... till wii that is) in me wants it but damn if I don't think that console is a piece of garbage (I'm sure I'll get negs for that).

I do enjoy my DSlite but a wii? Um... ... torn. I think I'll just continue pretend that it don't exist in the gaming lexicon....

FYI. its til tomorrow this wii deal.

^^ Hard to say mate - I honestly think the wii is more of a party console when you've got friends around - lots of good party games such as Brawl, Wii Sports, Wii Fit (to a certain extent), Strikers etc. The new, original games are generally interesting... most of the old rehashes such as Mario Kart, Zelda, Metroid I have avoided cause I'm pretty tired of those games.

^^ Agree 100%, great for parties but my day one launch console has sat idle longer than any other new console I've bought. icon_sad.gif
