Rare bringing back past franchises?

PALGN Rumour | Easter egg in Nuts & Bolts suggests Killer Instinct, Battletoads and Jet Force Gemini could all be making a return.

The cheeky folks over at Rare have hinted that some of their past franchises - Jet Force Gemini, Killer Instinct, Battletoads and Grabbed by the Ghoulies - could all be making a comeback.

According to Crank Gamers UK, hidden inside the newly released Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts is an Easter egg suggesting that all the above four games are currently 'in the pipeline'. Oh Rare, you crazy people.

While hardly an official announcement, it would seem downright mean of Rare to tease fans of their previous games like this - which is certainly not an impossibility. We will keep you posted.

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts is due for release on the Xbox 360 this Thursday. The first Banjo-Kazooie game, released on the N64 in 1998, is coming out of retirement on the 26th of November and will be available for download on Xbox Live. It's Banjo overload.

Jet Force Gemini was the cheese. A new version of that bad boy is almost as exciting as if Sega released a new Gunvalkyrie, or if Capcom released another P.N.03.

Deceiving gamers is exactly the kind of think Rare WOULD do, it's their sense of humour. Having said that, it really wouldn't surprise me if they revived some of their other franchises, especially KI. An XBLA Battletoads would be nice too.

I'd really like to believe this but something tells me that they are mainly teasing people big time, especially with the way it's written in-game. I wouldn't rule it out entirely but I don't think they have any real plans to revive any of those franchises, as awesome as it would definitely be.

Rare has been a bit bumpy recently. But Killer Instinct was one of my fav fighters of that generation so I'd buy it. As long as they kept it similar to the original. None of this building vehicles so you can race them shin dig lol. Killer Instinct.... Racer. no thanks.

Could only dream though. Like other posters have pointed out, Rare have a twisted sense of humour. I remember getting so hyped over Stop n Swop with Banjo-Kazooie and then feeling so let down when Banjo-Tooie finally came out.

That reads like Rare getting people's hopes up and then crushing them. Read the final two lines of it again, the implication is it isn't actually happening.

If true, what a brilliant way for them to announce upcoming games. Talk about target marketing!! (i.e the 5 fans they have left no doubt played through and read all the nonsensical sh*t in Nuts & Bolts ...assuming they could read the text font).

Forgive me if I'm crazy, but I'm not putting any stock into the statements of a joke video game character in a game made by Rare, who love to **** with their audience.

Cool if it's true, but we'll survive if it isn't.

I think this is just a way for RARE to test the waters and see just how great the demand for these games (and maybe more?) is. They're already bringing Banjo-Kazooie 1 and 2 back, so who's to say they won't be doing the same with more of their games?
