Call of Duty: World at War bargain round-up

PALGN News | Make peace with your wallet with our handy price guide.
Call of Duty: World at War is officially released today, and to celebrate we’ve compiled a list of the current specials around Australia. As usual though, before we get started we’re going to explain the different retail prices of each version.

World at War is available on nearly every console imaginable but unfortunately the Wii and Nintendo DS versions won’t be released until November 26, so this round-up focuses on the other versions only. The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 version retails for $109.95, while on PC it is usually priced at $89.95. Finally, the PlayStation 2 version is the cheapest at $49.95. In addition, there is a Collector’s Edition which includes a stainless steel canteen, a pin-up 5"x7" glossy card and 72 hours double XP. This retails for $119.95 on Xbox 360 and PS3, and $99.95 on PC.

Unsurprisingly, there’s a key group of retailers that are offering the best prices. Kmart are charging only $87 for the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, while Big W and Domayne are second best with their $88 price tags. PC gamers will want to head into Big W for their $68.83 special, while Kmart will set you back just 17 cents more. In case you haven’t upgraded to a next-gen console yet, you can purchase World at War on PS2 for $39.95 at Kmart and $39.98 at Big W. Sadly, the only special for the collector’s edition is at Dick Smith, and it’s just 24 cents off the PC version.

With the global economy crisis still making headlines, many of you are probably hoping for a cheaper alternative than what’s listed above. Thankfully, there are two trade-in deals for the standard editions on Xbox 360 and PS3. First up is JB Hi-Fi, where you can trade-in in three Xbox 360 or PS3 games and walk out with World at War for FREE. As always, we recommend taking a look at their exclusions list (.pdf file) before charging into your local store. Finally, EB Games are also offering the game for FREE when you trade-in three games. In contrast to JB however, EB have an eligible titles list, which you can look at by clicking here.

For a complete list of bargains please see below. All these specials will be included in this week’s Australian Gaming Bargains feature, which will be published by PALGN later this afternoon.

*(1)Please note that the Big W, GAME, Kmart and Target specials don’t officially start until Thursday, November 12. Because of this you may have to wait until then to take advantage of their offers. (2) All prices are for the standard editions unless otherwise stated.

GAME also has some deal on.
Walked past the store today, it was like trade in 1 game from this list of about 8(i saw fallout 3, so presumably new games) and get the game for 29.99.
